Job description

Project Engineer Controls Programming

Montgomery, AL | Onsite | Contracttohire

Data Center program is seeking a midlevel Project Engineer to take ownership of controls deliverables across design, programming, testing, and commissioning. These facilities operate with 10,000–40,000 IO points, 30+ PLCs, and multiple SCADA servers, requiring strong technical depth and independent execution.

What you’ll do

  • Lead controls tasks across design, PLC programming, QA/QC, testing, and commissioning
  • Convert mechanical Sequences of Operations into reliable, maintainable control logic
  • Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of PLC logic prior to commissioning
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated PLC code, logic, and graphics issues
  • Standardize PLC updates across the facility to maintain consistency and reduce rework
  • Interface directly with the client and drive deliverables with minimal daytoday oversight

What we’re looking for

  • 5–10 years of controls engineering experience with a strong focus on PLC programming
  • Experience with Schneider Electric (FBD), Rockwell, or Siemens platforms
  • Strong command of schematics, network diagrams, and control network architecture
  • Highly independent, organized, and able to prioritize tasks without constant direction
  • Backgrounds in energy, oil & gas, data centers, or other largescale, highstandards control environments
