Position Summary:
The Controls & Automation Engineer champions the development & support of the site's production equipment controls and automation infrastructure. This individual keeps abreast of current controls and automation technology and can translate technology into opportunities, providing a competitive advantage to Pharmavite.
Responsibilities:
  • Is responsible for the assigned production sites controls and automation systems, along with the development and delivery of the sites automation and controls capital plans.
  • Seamlessly deliver controls and automation projects, ensuring a deep level of input from the customer, leveraging Pharmavite's project management methodology and good practice project management tools.
  • Provides robust, timely support to manufacturing operations. Day-to-day production support is estimated to be approximately 15% of the time and may require some occasional out-of-hours support.
  • Leads value creation by the identification, planning, and implementation of new controls and automation to provide a competitive advantage to Pharmavite.
  • Keeps abreast of controls and automation technology and understands how it may be applied to work centers.
  • Ensure controls and automation-related projects are added to the site capital plans and multi-year Master Plans
  • Serves as a partner with the following Pharmavite functional groups/roles: Operational Excellence, Technical Operations SME's, Engineering project managers and Project Engineers, Information Technology, Operations Team leaders, Operations Engineers
  • Support the capability development of technicians who are the first line of defense for control system faults
  • Supports larger capital projects (under the leadership of a Project Manager) acts as the controls and automation lead. Provides leadership on controls and automation specifications and functional requirements, and ultimately ensures the controls aspects of the projects meet user requirements.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical/controls engineering or 5 years of equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.

Certification:
  • Lean certification is a plus.

Experience:
  • Requires five years of experience in a production environment and has demonstrated the capability with different control systems, being able to modify Ladder Logic effectively.
  • Allen-Bradley experience is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to problem-solve at a high level, leveraging structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with peers spanning multiple sites, ensuring common ways of working and standards are maintained.
  • Ability to collect and assess data and translate data into robust business cases and form actionable solutions.
  • Ability to teach and coach technicians controls technology, fault finding, and fault remediation, ultimately enhancing production system utilization.
  • Ability to lead teams as well as be a good team member on large capital projects
  • Good project management skills.
  • Good communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Proven success in recognizing business needs and creating and implementing technology solutions.

  • General office environment, ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to move about an office.

Environment:
  • Exposure to disagreeable elements is moderate.

Safety:
  • The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices without endangering their own or others' health or safety.

Travel:
  • Travel may be required periodically, depending on business needs.

National Target Base Pay Range: $80,000.00 - $133,000.00.
The salary range for this position is based on national standards. For candidates in California and the New York metro, the Target Base Pay Range is $88,000.00 - $146,000.00, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas.
Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws.
Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment. Our total rewards package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, Medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401(k) match, and other wellness benefits.
