Hexcel is currently seeking a Project Manager II - Electrical, Controls, and Automation for our Decatur, AL or Salt Lake City, UT, location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Lead electrical, controls, and automation capital projects from concept through commissioning and startup across multiple manufacturing sites.
  • Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, resources, and stakeholder communications for projects up to $50 million.
  • Develop capital expenditure requests, technical specifications, and equipment procurement strategies.
  • Coordinate activities between manufacturing sites, engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and OEM partners.
  • Review and maintain electrical, controls, instrumentation, process flow, and utility system drawings.
  • Support automation upgrades, equipment installations, infrastructure improvements, and facility expansions.
  • Troubleshoot industrial control systems and recommend solutions to improve reliability and performance.
  • Conduct safety and risk assessments while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to site personnel, engineers, and project teams.
  • Drive standardization and implementation of best practices across multiple manufacturing locations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, controls, automation engineering, or other related engineering discipline; or a minimum of 10 years of experience leading complex projects in these areas.
  • In-depth understanding of process control techniques and industry standards within industrial manufacturing settings.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation, controls technologies, process control systems, and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience leading capital projects and managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability to read, develop, and interpret electrical, controls, instrumentation, PFD, P&ID, and related engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial control systems and equipment integration.
  • Strong communication, organizational, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally based on project requirements - estimated 25% travel.
  • Experience with HAZOP, FMEA, or other safety and risk assessment methodologies preferred.
  • Experience with medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, power distribution infrastructure, Six Sigma methodologies, or advanced manufacturing technologies is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge or advanced visions systems or large language models (AI Models).
  • Ability to travel to other US Hexcel facilities - estimated 25% travel.
  • Eligible candidates will be a US Person.
