This position requires technical proficiency in many industrial control platforms; as well as the ability to directly interact with the customer in design reviews, project updates, runoffs, and installations.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering Required
  • Prefer 2-5+ years engineering experience in building controls, machine tools, and troubleshooting control systems.
  • Robot programming, Fanuc preferred
  • Vision programming, Cognex and Fanuc IRVision preferred
  • Experience with PLC protocols: Allen Bradley RSLogix, Siemens Step 5 & 7, GE Machine Edition, and Mitsubishi.
  • Experience setting up and utilizing networks using DeviceNet, Profibus, ProfiNet, Ethernet, Ethernet/IP
  • Experience setting up Allen Bradley, Seimens and Automation Direct HMI screens/panels
  • Experience with VFD Drives, installation, repair and programming of ABB, Parker, AB, Yaskawa, and Siemens.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to lead a project at installation and be the main customer interface.
  • Understanding of RIA robot safety standards, OSHA safety standards, and NFPA 79 and 70E standards

Major Responsibility Areas and Duties
  • Electrical design of complete automation systems using AutoCAD Electrical software
  • Designs include power distribution, I/O controls, communications, and panel layout drawings as well as PLC and robot programming.
  • Calculating panel SCCR, power rating, and FLA for panel rating.
  • Direct electrical assembly during equipment build.
  • Configure, debug, and test equipment on shop floor.
  • Direct electrical assembly during installation of equipment.
  • Lead start-up projects from start-up to completion while working with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage time and costs to be within budget and on schedule.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the plant.
  • Responsible for responding to all unplanned downtime or breakdowns on machines.
  • Plan and execute maintenance activities for non-routine problems or issues.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and system problems for manufacturing and facility equipment both routine and complex using a method of troubleshooting to get to a root cause.
  • Design, fabricate and install mechanical and electronic equipment and perform program changes.
  • Lead and assist in the planning, coordination and performance of shutdown and major maintenance activities.
  • Complete all training as required and perform OJT to other employees as required.
  • Wire and repair electric motors, repair basic wiring according to NEC.
  • Responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting problems with AC drive systems and PLCs. Should be able to access and interpret PLC logic via a laptop computer or other using the appropriate communication language.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment, to include lubrication, repairs, and adjustments, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
  • Advises operators and others of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Performs lockouts or tag out as required.
Additional Duties
  • Additional duties as assigned, not determined at the time of hire.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
  • Must be willing to work on site full time (this position is not remote)
  • Must be willing to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work at heights on occasion.
  • Ability to work in cold, heat, noise, dust, fumes, paint, chemicals, oils, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
