Job description

Preparation of timely, accurate and useful financial information, performance metrics, financial reporting and analysis for management and investors in accordance with GAAP. Guide financial decisions by working closely with business unit leaders, establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the monthly close process for assigned division (responsibilities include but are not limited to: journalizing accounting entries, estimating accruals, reconciling accounts, preparing schedules, reconciling bank accounts, journalizing divisional allocations and preparing reports for month-end financial book)

  • Reconcile and certify journals, accounts and tasks in the Blackline Accounting system as assigned
  • Review and approve Blackline Journals and Account Reconciliations for direct reports
  • Analyze, consolidate and interpret financial data, prepare detailed reports, variance analyses and presentations for review by all levels of management.
  • Provide written and verbal communication of financial results to Executive Management (including coordination of Divisional Financial Meetings).
  • Identify and implement procedures and reporting cycles to improve methods of controlling, monitoring and reporting key performance metrics.
  • Assist with internal and external audit for proper documentation of internal controls and adherence to policies and procedures. Prepare Audit schedules as assigned.
  • Prepare and analyze Divisional budget & forecast information in TM1 system.
  • Assist with Departmental Reporting and preparation of budget and forecast information.
  • Work with Executive Management on projects.
  • Assist with the close process for other divisions as assigned.
  • Assist with complex entries across the organization as assigned.
  • Supervise assigned staff and ensure compliance with corporate policies.
  • Maintain and Update General Ledger Account Numbers as assigned.
  • Employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of Covenant Logistics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated mastery of skills as an accountant.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of duties and tasks that are moderately complex.

Education/Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related and progressive experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years Supervisory experience preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
