Description

Job Title: Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Job Summary

The Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides deep technical expertise across the solution lifecycle, from pre-implementation review through execution and closeout. This role reviews and validates technical documentation, supports critical site visits and incident response, ensures deliverable quality, and partners with PMO, Implementation, and Operations teams to drive successful outcomes. The Technical SME also analyzes on-site execution data to recommend process and efficiency improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Review & Solution Support

  • Review technical documentation during the solution cycle and implementation to identify gaps, risks, and requirements
  • Provide technical input to ensure solutions align with customer needs, standards, and best practices
  • Support technical validation during new implementations and changes in scope

Implementation & Execution Support

  • Assist with project and customer implementations, providing technical guidance and oversight
  • Support critical site visits as required to ensure technical success and issue resolution
  • Serve as a technical escalation point during complex or high-impact implementations

Critical Incident & Technical Vetting

  • Perform technical vetting during critical incidents
  • Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
  • Partner with Operations and PMO to resolve escalations efficiently and effectively

Deliverables & Documentation

  • Create end-of-job deliverables and technical documentation
  • Review and approve technical deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Ensure documentation aligns with contractual, technical, and customer requirements

Performance Tracking & Process Improvement

  • Track time-to-task on-site per project
  • Analyze execution data to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
  • Make recommendations to improve technical processes, standards, and execution models

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with PMO, Account Management, Implementation, and Operations teams
  • Provide technical guidance to support service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and technical best practices

Work Environment

  • Combination of remote and on-site work depending on project needs
  • Travel required for critical site visits and implementations
  • May require on-call or after-hours support for critical incidents

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in relevant field (IT infrastructure, data centers, networking, or technical services)
  • Experience supporting complex implementations and critical incident response

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep technical expertise with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to review and produce high-quality technical documentation
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience working cross-functionally in PMO or project-driven environments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
