Senior Project Accountant
Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan

For almost 50 years, MOSS has delivered integrated technology solutions for businesses, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies. Our expertise includes structured cabling, audio visual, security, networking, unified communications, paging and mass notification, and managed IT services.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to partner with our Project Managers, Operations leaders, and Finance team to provide financial oversight from contract award through project closeout.
This is more than a traditional accounting role. You'll be a trusted business partner responsible for project financial reporting, contract billing, compliance, and continuous process improvement while helping drive operational excellence across the organization.
What You'll DoProject Accounting amp; Financial Oversight
  • Manage the financial administration of technology integration projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Operations leadership to monitor project costs, profitability, cash flow, and financial performance.
  • Prepare project financial reports and provide meaningful analysis to support decision-making.
  • Review project transactions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform project reconciliations, journal entries, work-in-process reviews, and project closeout activities.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial close related to project accounting.
Contract Billing
  • Prepare and submit AIA, progress, milestone, and other customer billings.
  • Establish and maintain project billing schedules.
  • Calculate billings for completed work, stored materials, and contractual milestones.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely, accurate invoicing.
  • Support collections by responding to customer billing questions and documentation requests.
Contract Compliance
  • Administer certified payroll reporting for prevailing wage projects.
  • Monitor compliance with contractual labor and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate project closeout documentation, including lien waivers and related deliverables.
Accounting Operations amp; Process Improvement
  • Support accounts payable, banking transactions, cash management, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, project reporting, billing processes, and NetSuite utilization.
  • Provide backup support to other accounting team members as needed.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Five or more years of accounting or project accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, project financial reporting, and contract billing.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with construction, low-voltage, electrical contracting, or technology integration companies.
  • Experience with AIA/progress billing.
  • Experience with prevailing wage and certified payroll reporting.
  • Experience using NetSuite or another ERP system.
