Job description

the Philanthropy Officer will:
• Successfully grow and manage a major gift portfolio to meet assigned goals and objectives
• Lead the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors and prospects for fundraising priorities
• Work with assigned leadership and colleagues to identify and qualify prospective donors, make discovery visits and build a pipeline of potential support;
• Develop and implement gift strategies and solicitations, ensure accurate gift processing, create and manage individual stewardship plans and develop appropriate engagement opportunities;
• In conjunction with the donor relations team, create written reports and updates for donors and leadership, craft acknowledgement letters, and respond to requests from donors and colleagues;
• Facilitate physician referrals and manage progress reports and provide regular updates;
• As part of engagement efforts, initiate appropriate contact and develop meaningful and effective development events for donors and prospective donors to showcase unique opportunities for support;
• Track progress and results utilizing Blackbaud and following policies
• Other duties as assigned.
The person holding this position needs to be an excellent verbal and written communicator, an entrepreneurial thinker and a problem solver. He/she must possess strong relationship management skills. Familiarity working with faculty, top executives and community leaders desired. Applicants should be accustomed to and comfortable with receiving and applying feedback and advice to improve performance. Additionally, applicants should be able to demonstrate a history of success in their prior field/position, with special focus on success in designing, implementing, and administering innovative programs that require creative solutions and energized problem-solving approaches within the fundraising arena.
Required Education: Associate's Degree and college level education, Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience
Required Experience: A minimum of 5 -7 years of fundraising experience in higher education with preference given to candidates who possess development experience in healthcare, academic science, and higher education.

Pay Transparency
The annual salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, State, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

The successful candidate will care deeply about healthcare and wellness, especially in a community hospital that serves a diverse community. They will have an eagerness to be part of a fundraising team preparing for the next phase of the Foundation's growth. Through the "art and science" of comprehensive fundraising, they will empower donors who want to make an impact and leave a legacy in support of USC Arcadia Hospital.
This position will report to the President of the Foundation. The Philanthropy Officer will serve as the strategist for individual, major gift and planned giving prospects, as well as institutional donors and prospects, including foundations and corporations. This position will play a key role in meeting the goals for the Foundation through direct fundraising.
