Job description

Project Manager – Oil & Gas EPC

CANUSA EPC LLC | Houston, Texas
Full-Time | Primarily In-Office | Project Site Travel
Pay: $50.00–$70.00 per hour

Lead the Team. Own the Project. Deliver the Results.

CANUSA EPC LLC is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Houston project team and lead the execution of upstream and midstream oil & gas projects.

This position is a key part of our project delivery team, coordinating engineering, design, procurement, vendors, clients, and field activities to move projects successfully from kickoff through completion.

We're looking for a Project Manager who understands oil & gas EPC execution and is ready to take ownership of project scope, schedule, budget, client communication, team performance, and overall delivery.

Our Project Managers don't simply track the work they lead it.

What You'll Do Project Leadership & Execution
  • Lead upstream and midstream oil & gas projects from kickoff through engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction support, and closeout
  • Establish project execution strategies, priorities, milestones, and expectations
  • Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource requirements
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across process, piping, mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, automation, engineering, and design
  • Maintain accountability for project deliverables, deadlines, and commitments
  • Identify project risks, constraints, and potential delays and develop mitigation plans
  • Manage project changes and communicate impacts to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication, vendor, and field activities
  • Support execution of greenfield and brownfield facility projects
  • Ensure projects meet client expectations, contractual requirements, and CANUSA standards
Client & Team Leadership
  • Serve as a primary client contact throughout project execution
  • Lead internal and external project meetings
  • Establish clear communication and expectations between clients and project teams
  • Work closely with discipline leads to establish priorities and resolve project roadblocks
  • Communicate project status, risks, decisions, and action items
  • Coordinate vendors, subcontractors, and external project partners
  • Build strong relationships with client engineering, operations, construction, and management teams
  • Provide direction, accountability, and mentorship to project team members
Project Controls & Commercial Management
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and progress tracking
  • Monitor performance against planned hours, cost, schedule, and deliverables
  • Identify potential overruns and scope concerns early
  • Manage change orders and ensure out-of-scope work is properly identified and documented
  • Support TIC estimates, proposals, project estimates, and business development opportunities
  • Participate in resource planning and project staffing
  • Prepare and present project progress, cost, schedule, and forecast reports
  • Support project invoicing and contractual documentation
What We're Looking For

We need someone who understands that successful project management is about more than schedules and spreadsheets.

You should be able to lead people, understand the technical work well enough to challenge it, communicate effectively with clients, anticipate problems, and drive the team toward decisions and deliverables.

Experience & Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience supporting engineering, EPC/EPCM, construction, or energy projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects or significant project scopes
  • Experience in upstream or midstream oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, or a closely related industry
  • Experience with an EPC/EPCM firm, producer, midstream operator, or similar organization
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and design teams
  • Strong understanding of scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, and change management
  • Experience working directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Familiarity with greenfield and brownfield project execution
  • Working knowledge of PMI-based project execution principles
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field preferred
  • PMP certification preferred but not required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid passport and ability to travel between the U.S. and Canada
Work Environment & Flexibility

This is a full-time, primarily in-office position based in our Houston, Texas office.

CANUSA believes in-person collaboration is important to successful project execution, particularly for positions responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.

We also understand that life happens. CANUSA provides reasonable flexibility for appointments, family needs, and occasional personal obligations. This flexibility is intended to help employees manage those needs and is not a regularly scheduled hybrid or remote-work arrangement.

Periodic travel to client and project sites throughout North America is required.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $50.00–$70.00 per hour

Actual compensation will be determined based on project management experience, oil & gas industry experience, technical background, leadership capabilities, and overall qualifications.

CANUSA EPC offers a competitive benefits package including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) with 4% company match
  • $500 employer HSA contribution
  • 11 paid company holidays
  • Paid time off
  • Employer-paid and voluntary benefit options
  • Professional development and opportunities for increased project and leadership responsibility
