Job description

Apave America is hiring a Manager - Contracts and Commercial Support in Houston, Texas! The Manager - Contracts & Commercial Support oversees the full lifecycle of contract management, ensuring all agreements meet organizational legal, commercial, and compliance standards. This role partners closely with internal departments, clients, subcontractors, and vendors to negotiate terms, maintain documentation systems, support pricing strategies, and uphold regulatory and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Review - Review client, vendor, and subcontractor contracts for compliance with organizational legal and commercial standards.
  • Risk Identification - Identify language that deviates from approved legal or commercial positions and propose corrective revisions.
  • Contract Negotiation - Negotiate contract terms with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to protect company interests.
  • Pricing Strategy Support - Assist in developing pricing strategies, rate structures, and commercial models for client proposals.
  • Consortium Management - Maintain client compliance platforms such as ISN, Avetta, and similar systems.
  • Client Portal Administration - Support the upkeep of client procurement portals including Ariba and others.
  • Contract Drafting - Assist in drafting contracts, subcontracts, MSAs, NDAs, and standard agreement templates.
  • Regulatory Coordination - Coordinate with department leaders to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Audit Participation - Participate in contract-related financial compliance audits.
  • RFP/RFI Support - Assist in preparing responses to RFPs, RFIs, and other client information requests.
  • Insurance Program Support - Assist in maintaining insurance documentation, including OCIP programs.
  • Management Reporting - Respond to ad hoc reporting requests from leadership.
  • Safety Compliance - Maintain compliance with company safety programs and support culture initiatives.
  • Client Documentation - Coordinate completion of client-required documents such as certifications and representations.
  • Database Ownership - Manage company databases and systems related to contract coordination and lifecycle management.
  • Standards Development - Develop and refine legal and commercial standards, procedures, and processes.
  • Contract Renewals - Initiate timely renewals of existing contracts and track expiration timelines.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management - Coordinate and manage contracts from initiation through execution and closeout.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Legal Studies, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in contract management, commercial operations, or legal support
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with platforms such as ISN, Avetta, Ariba, or similar
  • Experience drafting and reviewing commercial agreements
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
