About the Team:
The Jackalope Studio leads the development of engaging land-based slot machines, contributing to Bluberi's dynamic R&D department in concert with other development teams across the U.S. and Canada. Our passionate team of seasoned professionals spans multiple disciplines, including mathematics, visual arts, software engineering, game design, audio engineering, and quality assurance. Operating in a hybrid model in Austin TX, we balance seamless collaboration on target hardware with the flexibility to foster creativity and efficiency.
Summary:
Bluberi is seeking a highly motivated individual who has a passion for creative game development and slot machines to be part of our Austin team. Software Developer III collaborates with cross-functional teams to define, design, scope, and implement content and game features to craft captivating gaming experiences. Demonstrates passion for game development, an advanced understanding of Unity technologies, and excellent programming skills.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop entertaining gaming experiences
  • Implement content and script game features
  • Define functional requirements, identify dependencies, and create scoping assessments for product designs.
  • Deliver regular game builds and participate in development reviews
  • Deliver compliant code and technical solutions
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code for Unity-based games.
  • Independently debug and fix issues identified by QA or internal testing teams.
  • Participate in code reviews and mentorship of other developers.
  • Contribute to the organization's technical knowledge base
  • Collaborate with platform team to evolve the Game Development Kit (GDK) and address technical debt

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant experience in lieu
  • 5+ years of programming experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with C# and Unity.
  • 5+ years of experience with integrated development environments (IDEs) like Visual Studio.
  • Competent with version control systems, such as Git and SVN.
  • Basic understanding of the casino gaming industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Can modulate information to different development domains. Demonstrates effective presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Works well with creative conflict in a consensus-based, collaborative environment.
  • Shows dedication to continuous learning and contributes to improving the studio and organization. Spends regular time on self-improvement that provides value to the organization.

Preferred Education & Experience:
  • Experience with C++ and C for tool and engine support preferred.
  • Demonstrates and champions Bluberi values about teamwork, ownership and transparency.
  • Experience with video games or slot development is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge about the casino gaming industry and regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and can manage work across multiple projects at a time. Shows attention to detail and quickly absorbs and recalls new information. Able to contribute to the effective organization, storage and dissemination of studio documents, and technical requirements.
  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Employment Classification
To determine eligibility for benefits and overtime status and to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, Bluberi uses the following classifications. Employment classifications are based on the guidelines of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and, as circumstances dictate, Bluberi may review or change employment classifications at any time.
Exempt: Exempt Team members are paid on a salary basis and are not eligible to receive overtime pay.
Non-exempt: Non-exempt Team members are paid on an hourly basis and are eligible to receive overtime pay for overtime hours worked.
Regular, full time: Team members who are not in a temporary status and work a minimum of 30 hours weekly and maintain continuous employment status. These Team members are eligible for the full-time benefits package and are subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations of each benefits program.
Regular, part time: Team members who are not in a temporary status and who are regularly scheduled to work less than 30 hours weekly, but at least 20 hours weekly, and who maintain continuous employment status.
