Contract Manufacturing Manager

Job description

What do Gordon Ramsey, all the nannies from Nanny 911, and Morpheus from The Matrix, and YOU all have in common? Besides being able to save the world from near-sheer disaster, you and these acclaimed heroes are great mentors and know how to get chip done—hand in hand with your teammates, of course! You are the culmination of optimization, organization, and quality production. In the same way that Glinda the Good Witch guided Dorothy on her quest to Oz, we’re looking for someone to assist our operations and contracted manufacturing teams in our quest to expand our resources and increase our efficiency. This role requires traveling to and fro’, working cross-functionally, and having a hands-on approach to taking our growing team from scrappy to snappy.

If this sounds like you, our familia would love to hear from you for our Contract Manufacturing Manager position!

About You:
  • You’re a results-driven person, mainly because you’re highly organized and motivated but also because you’re as curious as a cat (or as curious as George!)

  • Ever since you successfully sourced all the red Crayons from your kindergarten classmates in exchange for blue, you’ve been a proven negotiator. You’re more than ready to take on CPG supply chain process negotiations from end-to-end!

  • ‘Highly motivated with the ability to multitask’ is the nuts and bolts of your elevator pitch.

  • When we say, “team,” you say, “player!’ TEAM!

  • Like a helpful neighbor, you enjoy talking to and managing multiple stakeholders at various levels of an organization.

  • Deadlines, shmeadlines! You don’t just meet ‘em, you beat ‘em—plus you have the ability to work independently towards your goals, ideas, and projects.

  • You know the difference between “incommunicado” and “communicating,” and you’ve got the communication skills to prove it (and, for this reason, are never incommunicado).

  • Whether you’re in an escape room, on the job, or in a jam, you’ve got the solution!

  • A well-organized and thought-out spreadsheet is cathartic to you. You’re a spreadsheet whiz, and you love being “accounting-able” to a budget.

What You Will Do:
  • Establish and maintain contract manufacturing relationships by acting as the primary point of contact for manufacturers on both day to day production operations and high level initiatives.

  • Lead contract manufacturing sourcing strategy including RFP/RFQ development, supplier risk assessments, price negotiations, and awarding of business.

  • Perform monthly capacity analysis by category to ensure current and future demand can be met.

  • Prospect redundant and overflow capacity and provide recommendations to plan for unexpected sales growth or an unforeseen constraint to supply.

  • Lead cross functional production meetings with manufacturing partners on a regular cadence to ensure alignment and ‘on track’ execution.

  • Partner with Culinary & Innovation and Commercialization teams to support the manufacturing (ideation, manufacturing capability sourcing, and execution) of new products.

  • Partner with manufacturers and the internal QA department to analyze manufacturability of new products as well as recommend changes that will facilitate efficient manufacturing and lower costs.

  • Create and own Bill of Materials, fully understand manufacturing COGS, and lead the quarterly pricing reconciliation process.

  • Ensure at a high level that the cross functional team is fulfilling its obligations to the manufacturing partners, and appropriately advocate for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Manage and lead Quarterly Contract Manufacturer scorecard review processes for contract manufacturing partners.

  • Work with the Director of Contract Manufacturing on the overall manufacturing strategy for each category, including analyzing data and making recommendations to the business.

  • Travel around 25% of the time.

Your Experience:
  • Proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets is required

  • 2-3 years in food related manufacturing within operations, quality assurance, and/or supply chain management functions is strongly preferred

  • Experience with continuous improvement within plant facilities is a plus
