Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce is immediately adding a full-time Technical Author in support of our nationally recognized, Consumer and Commercial Electronic R&D client in Spring, TX.
Summary:
The Technical Author will research and collaborate with a cross functional team (product management, engineering, testing and validation, marketing, support, and related groups) to create and work on a variety of documents while meeting high quality standards. The documents can be anything from various types of guides, knowledge-based articles (KBAs), frequently asked questions (FAQs), etc.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Documentation Development & Management:
Partner with Product Management, Engineering, QA, Marketing, Support, and other stakeholders to create and maintain:
  • User Guides
  • Administrator Guides
  • Knowledge Base Articles (KBAs)
  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  • Technical Documentation
  • Online Help Content
  • Research and develop high-quality customer-facing documentation for enterprise software products
  • Transform complex technical concepts into clear, engaging, and user-friendly content
  • Ensure documentation meets quality, compliance, usability, and branding standards
  • Drive document review and approval processes across global teams
  • Self-edit documentation and assist in editing content created by team members
  • Manage multiple documentation projects while meeting deadlines and quality expectations
  • Continuously improve documentation processes, methodologies, and efficiencies
  • Collaborate on UI content and design initiatives that enhance product discoverability and in-product marketing

Content Publishing & Web Operations:
  • Create, update, and manage digital content postings using approved publishing tools, templates, and forms
  • Ensure content adheres to branding, formatting, accessibility, and compliance standards
  • Maintain consistency across websites, portals, and content repositories

REQUIREMENTS:
Technical Writing Expertise:
  • 5-10+ years of experience creating enterprise-level technical documentation for software products
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer-facing documentation for commercial software applications
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and composition
  • Advanced editing and proofreading skills
  • Proven ability to quickly learn, understand, and document complex technical concepts
  • Experience writing for varied audiences, from end users to technical developers and administrators
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail

Technical Knowledge:
  • Experience documenting enterprise software solutions

Strong understanding of:
  • IT Security
  • Enterprise Systems
  • Databases
  • System Software
  • Client-Server Architectures
  • Experience with security-focused products is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures is a plus

Tools & Technologies:
  • Experience with modern technical writing tools and methodologies
  • Experience using lightweight markup languages
  • Experience with Git or other distributed version control systems
  • Experience creating diagrams and visual documentation using Visio, Figma, or similar tools
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience supporting SharePoint environments

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technical Communication, or a related field
  • Previous experience within a software company environment
  • Experience creating documentation for customer-facing developers and technical audiences
  • Exposure to cybersecurity or security software products
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
