Overview

QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Surgical Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team atTripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.The ideal candidate willhave a minimum of three (3) continuous years of recent (one year of which must have occurred within the last year) experience working as a scrub tech in an operating room setting. Must have diverse surgical experiences to include scrubbing and circulating duties in the following surgical specialties: general surgery, urology, robotics, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, eye surgery, ENT, GYN, vascular and orthopedic surgery.

  • Duty Location: Tripler Army Medical Center, HI. No Telework allowed.
  • Duty Hours: Monday-Friday, 0645-1545. Shifts will be scheduled for a 9-hour period to include a 60-minute uncompensated lunch break.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
  • The contract Surgical Technologist shall perform essentially the same duties as those required of any military operating room technicians or Government Civil Service Operating Room Nursing Assistants of similar experience and in similar duty assignments.
  • Provide assistance to the surgical team by performing a surgical scrub and other support services for major and minor surgical procedures in the operating room setting. Anticipate needs of surgeon according to procedure and operative technique.
  • Scrubbing and circulating duties in the following surgical specialties: general surgery, robotics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, OB/GYN, OMFS, vascular and orthopedic surgery. 
  • Use principles of sterile techniques in preparing and maintaining instruments, supplies and equipment on the sterile field. Must be able to wear surgical gloves and personal protective equipment to include a surgical mask. Conduct point of use cleaning after the completion of the surgical procedure and transporting the surgical case cart to Sterile Processing and waste and linen to the soiled utility room.
  • Transport surgical patients, laboratory specimens and blood products.
  • Prepare instrumentation and supplies for surgery as necessary, including use of various methods of sterilization.
  • Participate in the Orientation and Training of 68D Students, new employees, medical interns, nursing students, residents, and other medical training program provided by Tripler Army Medical center. The contract Surgical Technologist shall assist with oversight of the 68D students as needed. The contractors may be assigned to assist in the orientation of staff members and/or training of surgical technician students. Daily assignments may include orientation or training of students and new personnel. The contractors shall assist in training staff members and 68D in the operation of equipment, room set up, sterile technique, handling instruments, operating room procedures and decontamination of equipment and instruments.
  • The contract Surgical Technologist shall be assigned to carry a paging and/or other electronic communication devices used by the operating room personnel while on shift and respond to Labor and Delivery to function as a Technician for Caesarian section procedures. 
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree/Education:
    • Graduate from Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or completion of a formal training program provided by any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, or Air Force) for surgical technicians, surgical technologists or operating room technicians.
  • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States: The contract worker performing under this contract must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Certifications (in addition to Basic Life Support identified in paragraph 1.5.45.6.):
    • Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or certified as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or possess a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician and/or operating room technician.

  • Occupational Health: The contract worker shall be required to obtain documentation of required physical testing or a report of a physical examination.
  • Tuberculosis Screening: The Contractor ensure contract workers shall be screened for tuberculosis (TB). In addition, contract worker will be screened prior to reporting for services at the place of performance for the following: N/A
  • Health Requirements. The Contractor shall provide documentation certifying health requirements such as immunizations, annual vaccinations, and physical examination when required at the time of initial placement. Be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. Contract workers shallmaintaingood personal hygiene and present a well-groomed and professional appearanceIAWthe policy at the place of performance.
  • Background Check: Subject to a background/security investigation. Pre-employment drug screening.
