Surgical Technologist – Operating Room (Travel/Local Contract)
Facility: Grady Health System – Grady Memorial Hospital
Location: 80 Jesse Hill Jr Dr SE, Atlanta, GA 30303
Schedule: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (Day shift)
Duration: 13 weeks
On-Call: Required (including weekends and holidays; no block scheduling)

Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist supports operative procedures in a high-volume Level I Trauma Operating Room. The role requires strong technical proficiency in surgical setup, sterile technique, instrumentation handling, and intraoperative support across a wide range of complex surgical cases.
Requirements
Minimum experience in Operating Room Surgical Technology required
Must have prior travel experience
Level I Trauma experience required
Active CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) preferred or equivalent experience per facility standards
Ability to work extended shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) including weekends and holidays
Must be comfortable with high-acuity surgical environments
Preferred Experience
Burn unit surgical experience strongly preferred
Experience in large academic or trauma hospitals
High-volume OR experience with complex surgical cases
Ability to function independently in fast-paced surgical environments
Responsibilities
Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures
Ensure sterile field integrity and adherence to aseptic technique
Assist surgeons and surgical teams during procedures
Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment
Anticipate surgeon needs during operations
Support turnover and preparation between cases
Maintain accurate surgical counts and safety protocols
Assist in emergency and trauma surgical procedures
Follow hospital policies for infection control and patient safety
Facility Notes
Level I Trauma Center with high-acuity surgical cases
No block scheduling; variable scheduling required
Includes weekends, holidays, and potential call coverage
High expectation for immediate productivity due to trauma volume
Travel experience strongly preferred for rapid integration into OR workflow
