Surgical Technologist – Pediatric OR (Level 4)

Surgical Technologist – Pediatric OR (Level 4) at URMC – Strong Memorial Hospital (SMH) in the Pediatric Operating Room.

Assignment Information
  • Position Type: Travel / Contract
  • Duration: Typically 13 weeks (standard unless specified otherwise)
  • Shift: Variable (Day/Evening – depends on OR schedule)
  • Hours: 36–40 hours/week (based on facility needs)
Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist with pediatric OR experience to support a high-acuity surgical environment.

This role requires strong expertise in sterile technique, instrumentation, and intraoperative support, specifically within pediatric surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain sterile surgical field
  • Assist surgeons during pediatric surgical procedures
  • Handle and pass surgical instruments and supplies
  • Ensure proper instrument counts and sterilization
  • Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
  • Maintain compliance with infection control protocols
  • Support OR team in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of Surgical Tech experience (acute care OR)
  • Pediatric OR experience (strongly preferred / often required for Level 4)
  • NBSTSA CST Certification (required)
  • BLS Certification (AHA)
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Surgical instrumentation
    • Sterile technique
    • OR workflows
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in:
    • Level 1 / Level 4 trauma centers
    • High-acuity pediatric cases
  • Prior travel experience
  • Experience with complex surgical specialties
