Senior Project Engineer โ€“ Structural
Opportunity
Join Hixson Architecture, Engineering amp; Interiors, a nationally recognized design firm known for its collaborative culture and award-winning projects. Weโ€™re seeking a Senior Structural Project Engineer with expertise in designing structural systems for large industrial and warehouse facilities. Youโ€™ll be part of a multidisciplinary team of architects, engineers, and project managers working on complex projects up to $500 million for leading brands in the food and beverage industry. This key role combines deep technical expertise, problem-solving, and mentorship within a values-driven environment that prioritizes teamwork and professional growth.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Civil, Structural, Environmental Health amp; Safety Engineering, the Senior Project Engineer will:
  • Lead the structural engineering portion of major projects across industrial, commercial, science + technology, and workplace sectors.
  • Manage all structural engineering deliverables including data collection, design, specifications, contract documents, shop drawing review, and construction coordination.
  • Collaborate proactively with multi-discipline design teams to achieve innovative, buildable solutions.
  • Serve as a mentor and technical resource for junior engineers.

Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis) required; MS in Civil or Structural Engineering a plus.
  • PE and/or SE license (required in at least one U.S. state).
  • 10+ years of structural design and project leadership experience.
  • Proficient in the design of structural steel, concrete, masonry, cold-formed metal framing, wood framing, and foundation systems.
  • Understanding and knowledge of structural requirements for precast and tilt-up concrete projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in producing structural construction documents within the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and BIM environment using Revit.
  • Expertise in structural analysis software, such as:
    RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, Tekla TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, RISA, CFS, Anchor Designer (Strong-Tie), Hilti Profis, Ideastatica, Excel/VBA.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. Building Codes and Reference Standards.
