The Opportunity

The Director of Contract Sales will play a critical role in driving the Company’s execution of an aggressive growth plan to capitalize on the investment in manufacturing capability and plant capacity focused on the production of Dietary Supplements. The Director of Contract Sales will provide strategic planning and leadership in growing business with existing accounts, creating new customer relationships, and driving new business to take advantage of MeriCal’s broad capabilities within contract manufacturing space. The Director of Contract Sales must be able to work well in a fast‑paced, collaborative, and growth‑oriented environment. Additionally, they will lead the identification and communication of market opportunity; specifically, the size & scope, and development & execution of the plan to deliver on the opportunity.

What You’ll Do
  • Define the commercial path to growth and profitability of MeriCal’s Contract Sales portfolio and the establishment of an effective associated sales process infrastructure.
  • Lead the development of MeriCal’s disruptive marketing and sales strategy with an emphasis on achieving market penetration and sales growth with a particular emphasis on cost‑effective customer acquisition and market demand generation.
  • Provide commercial input to development activities and business/market analysis for program prioritization.
  • Responsible for tracking sales budgets and business development metrics. Build upon existing metrics to benchmark the sales team success and use data to guide decisions for future growth.
  • Lead the evaluation of sales operations tools to include forecasting, pipeline management, and sales operations infrastructure and organize the team for success, transparency, and execution.
  • Pursue opportunities for growth through customer analytics and opportunity identification.
  • Conduct in depth analysis of current and anticipated business conditions affecting the business and customer requirements.
  • Work effectively with the marketing team to implement and communicate the core brand messages, service positioning statements, and collateral materials.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Business‑to‑Business consultive selling in dietary supplement or related industry.
  • Experience with Nutritional/Health and Wellness product/categories.
  • Experience with managing custom/complex product formula development.
  • Proves sales management abilities covering analysis and planning strategy, development and implementation of programs and reporting and controlling results.
  • Desire to lead the retail sales function for the benefit of all employees and functional areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to sell into an environment of Business‑to‑Business customers. Must possess a love of the consultative selling process and the delivery on commitments and customers.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills and demonstrated ability to identify and capture new markets with new and existing product services.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Hold an insatiable curiosity - always asking "How are we doing", "What is the market doing?", Could we be better?" How do other solve this problem?" "Should we relook at the way we do things?".
  • Extreme sense of urgency to address market opportunity where speed is likely the greater market differentiator.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent ability to sell sales strategies throughout the organization, generating excitement, enthusiasm, and commitment. Helping other to get a clear picture while driving an outcome.
  • High capability to generate new ideas and implement them with overall organizational goals in mind, as well as to take advantage of emerging opportunities.
  • Location: remote, 45‑mile proximity to major US airport.
  • Travel: Ability to travel 20%.
