Project Manager - EPC / Project Management / Owner-Operator / RNG / Energy / Gas Pipeline Infrastructure / Landfill / ABET #4987

Job Summary

The company is a leader in the capture and conversion of biogas into low carbon intensity renewable natural gas (RNG) and renewable electricity. The company is also a leader in the marketing and distribution of RNG to heavy duty trucking and other hard-to-decarbonize industrial sectors.

We are hiring a Project Manager - Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) with at least 10 years of experience to join our Upstream Construction Team. This role reports directly to the Director of Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) and is responsible for managing subcontractors performing commercial and industrial construction and engineering projects nationwide.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with process plant and process piping projects in the oil & gas, refinery, chemical process, biogas, or other related process facility sectors. The Project Manager will oversee projects during development, pre-construction, construction, and commissioning phases, with a focus on safety, budget, schedule, and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned projects through all phases: development, pre-construction, construction, and commissioning.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and maintain consistent, thorough communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure smooth transitions between project phases by coordinating closely with development and operations teams.
  • Account for overall project safety, scope, budget, risk management, and schedule delivery.
  • Oversee a mix of project types, including biogas-to-RNG conversion, biogas-to-renewable electricity projects, greenfield development, brownfield redevelopment, and distressed asset rehabilitation using EPC or design-build delivery methods.
  • Oversee or directly perform key activities such as owner permitting, contracting with consultants and contractors, negotiations and contractual agreements, utility interconnections (natural gas, power, water, sanitary, internet, etc.), land or land rights acquisition, estimating, bidding, equipment procurement, logistics, and material transport.
  • Ensure compliance with permits, material contracts, lenders, and equity partners, including required reporting.
  • Manage project costs, schedules, risks, deliverables, tasks, and regular reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. Advanced degree (MS or MBA) preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 10 years of industrial-scale project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working on gas processing projects such as RNG, gas transmission and compression, gas treating, air separation, LNG, CNG, hydrogen, or related facilities.
  • Proven ability to adapt and pivot quickly in response to daily changes and project challenges.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management software such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, Primavera, or MS Project.
  • Solid understanding of project controls and contract management.
  • Experience managing projects with CAPEX greater than $50MM.
  • Ability to successfully manage concurrent projects across multiple states.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Existing network of vendors, consultants, and contractors across the United States is highly preferred.
  • Must have relevant project experience within the United States.
  • Initially, the position is remote with travel but team will prioritize candidates with willingness to relocate to Charlotte area in future.

Compensation Package

  • Base Salary: $150,000 – $180,000 annually (actual offer will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, market considerations, and geographic location).
  • Bonus: Eligible for 20% target performance-based bonus.
