What is a contract remote graduate?

Contract Remote Graduates are recent university or college graduates who work on a contractual basis for employers, performing their job duties remotely rather than from a traditional office. These roles are typically project-based or temporary, allowing both the employer and the graduate flexibility in terms of work location and duration. This type of position is popular in fields such as IT, marketing, research, and administration, where tasks can be completed online. Contract remote roles can help graduates gain valuable work experience, build professional networks, and develop skills that are attractive to future employers.

How do contract remote graduates typically collaborate with their teams while working off-site?

Contract Remote Graduates usually rely on digital communication tools such as video conferencing, instant messaging, and shared project management platforms to stay connected with their teams. Regular check-ins, virtual meetings, and collaborative documents are common practices to ensure alignment and progress on tasks. Building relationships and maintaining clear communication can be a challenge, but proactive engagement and responsiveness help bridge the remote gap. Many organizations also provide mentorship or buddy systems to support new graduates in adapting to remote work dynamics.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract remote graduate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract Remote Graduate, you typically need a relevant degree in your field, strong research and analytical skills, and the ability to work independently. Familiarity with digital collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom, and project management systems, along with proficiency in your discipline’s standard software, is usually expected. Outstanding time management, self-motivation, and proactive communication are soft skills that help you stand out in a remote environment. These skills and qualities are essential for meeting deadlines, maintaining productivity, and building professional relationships while working remotely.

Job description

About us
We're on a mission to bring contracts and any other long documents to the 21st century!
We're using AI to make these documents intelligible, abstracting what matters in them and detailing their content so that humans can manipulate them easily.
We've been working on this since the beginning of 2021, and have applications in Real Estate, Finance, Insurance, and other industries. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as possible.
Position Description

As a Data Scientist, you will be working with our engineering team to model complex problems and identify high-impact opportunities. You will be part of a high-energy, fast-paced team responsible for supporting initiatives and working on our ground-breaking AI models.
Our full-stack Data Science Team uses Python for research and development. Our wide range of experience includes NLP, SpaCy, Transformers, and PyTorch recommendation systems, supervised and unsupervised problems. As part of the team, you are free to use the approach you see fit while relying on your colleague's previous experience and expertise.
As a Data Scientist, you will:

  • Design new experiments for data abstraction and categorization of sentences/paragraphs
  • Work with our lawyers to review initial results and implement pre and post-processing scripts to improve the accuracy of models
  • Run data analysis on our dataset to design potential rules for annotation.
  • Improve the architecture of data modeling and data tooling in partnership with Engineering and cross-functional business partners
  • Own your projects and use this autonomy to find creative and innovative ways of solving problems and delivering solutions.
We are looking for a passionate Data Scientist with:

  • 2+ years of industry work experience as an analyst, data scientist, or equivalent

  • Exceptional skills in Python, SQL, and any other programming language for data analysis and visualization.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills with experience evangelizing the value of leveraging data in making both strategic and product decisions
  • Experience with reporting systems and data pipeline architecture.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving experience with the ability to break down complex and unstructured problems into layman's terms
  • An online sample of your analytical and/or data visualization abilities is greatly appreciated.
    Nice to have:
    • Experience with Golang, and/or Git
    • Experience with SpaCy, Transformers, PyTorch, or similar NLP framework
    • Experience working with ontologies and knowledge graphs
    • Experience in MLOps
    • Master's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or another quantitative field
You care about:

  • Helping others: sharing knowledge with your colleagues is on top of your priorities
  • Fast-paced startups: you love adapting to different situations, and you know how and when to iterate fast and with high quality
  • Our product: you believe in our vision, and are willing to give your best to build the future of Zenlaw
What we offer you:

  • Ownership of your work
  • Position 100% remote
  • Open-minded variety of nationalities
  • A collaborative, open workplace
  • Team Events
