Stovepipe is a welcoming, safe, and environmentally responsible resort providing accommodations and services inside Death Valley National Park. POWDR operates Stovepipe Wells under a long-term concession contract with the National Park Service.

Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park - Journey Beyond the Ordinary. Stovepipe Wells has an 80-room hotel, restaurant, bar, pool, gas station, general store, and gift shop. Stovepipe is a welcoming, safe, and environmentally responsible resort providing accommodations and services inside Death Valley National Park. Over the next few years, the resort will undergo upgrades to rejuvenate accommodations and dining for public enjoyment. POWDR operates Stovepipe Wells under a long-term concession contract with the National Park Service.

Maintenance Technician 2 role is responsible for leading and performing advanced maintenance and custodial operations to ensure the cleanliness, safety, functionality, and overall upkeep of all facilities at Stovepipe Wells. This role provides hands-on technical expertise and support to maintenance operations while assisting with oversight, coordination, and mentorship of maintenance and custodial staff. Maintenance Technician 2 employees support overall operations by preserving and protecting the environment and infrastructure, including facilities, gas station, roadways and paths, food and beverage outlets, restrooms, hotel accommodations, RV park, retail stores, offices, and all common areas. This position ensures sanitation and safety standards are met, responds to maintenance needs and emergencies, and actively cultivates a safe, friendly, and engaging work environment where guest service, outdoor adventure, and environmental stewardship are embraced.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs repairs for basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and signage.

  • Maintenance duties may include litter pick-up and a clean, neat, sanitized restrooms, offices, buildings, facilities and external environment.

  • Lock out assistance for guests and visitors as needed.

  • Supports a clean and tidy landscaping area, and all outside common areas

  • Participates in separating waste for proper recycling and trash management program, accurately tracks metrics, volume and pickup quantities as assigned

  • Helps maintain signage and infrastructure repairs on all buildings and RV sites.

  • Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Information System is CMIS (i.e. Maintain-X) to input accurate information.

  • Engages in capital projects as assigned

  • Follows HazCom, HazMat, SPCC and OSHA worker safety standards, environmental safety, and maintenance department standards

  • Maintains and organizes maintenance area equipment, conducts lockout tagout, follows OSHA safety standards

  • Participates in department and company required trainings and meetings

  • Communicates positively with management, staff and visitors to facilitate and nurture a healthy, comfortable, clean, and fun experience.

  • Perform various landscaping duties including but not limited to pulling weeds, watering trees, pruning, laying sod or seed, trimming grass, raking, dirt work, building tent pads, repairing/replacing fencing, improving drainages, installing signs, etc.

  • Recycling and trash management.

  • Working with and maintaining equipment

  • Painting and staining railings, and the interior and exterior of buildings.

  • Assist the front desk to meet special request needs as they arise.

Work Location:

  • Due to the in-person nature of the hospitality business, this position is on-site. Housing may be provided on-site if available.

  • A flexible schedule with commuting from Pahrump, Beatty or Las Vegas will be considered.

  • Due to the nature of our business, Stovepipe Wells Village is open every day.You must be prepared to work a schedule which may include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Able to work and thrive in Death Valley National Park.

  • Establish successful working relationships with co-workers, management and the public.

  • Use goodprofessional judgment, honesty, and integrity in decision making.

  • Working handyman skills.

  • Working HVAC skills a plus.

  • Experience working in landscaping, infrastructure improvements and renovations.

  • Minimum 4 years working in maintenance position, and hospitality preferred.

  • High school diploma required.

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage of $23.00 - $24.00 per hour, DOE. On-site housing included.
