Ovintiv requires a full-time Contract Operator to operate in the Pipestone Field. The Field consists of sour well production, gathering systems and compressor facilities.


This position requires strong knowledge and experience in the operation of production wells, liquid separation, compression, water injection, gas lift / plunger lift, and associated pipeline networks.


This position requires daytime coverage consisting of 10 hour shifts working an 8 / 6 rotation.Requirement to be on call after hours.


Responsibilities:


  • Operate field facilities and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Troubleshoot process problems and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization, working closely with Lead Operator.
  • Monitor field well performance and facility conditions utilizing SCADA systems.
  • Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the field and facilities at all times.
  • Responsible for minor maintenance and the coordination of other maintenance activities.
  • Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification, equipment lock-out, emergency response, follow safe work procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulatory requirements. Responsible for corrective actions if required.
  • Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance and management staff.
  • Ensure work order and operations improvement processes are followed.
  • Maintain proper documentation including plant logs, maintenance records, safety & environment reports, etc.
  • Assist with project work including turnarounds.
  • Track and maintain key performance indicators such as production, downtime and production losses.

Qualifications:


  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must live within the Grande Prairie or surrounding area.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Minimum 2 years of operational experience. Entry level may be considered.
  • Routine operational and maintenance experience. Good understanding of liquid separation,compression, injection wells, condensate stabilization, dehydration, gas lift/plunger lift, and pipeline maintenance.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in use and application of PC programs specifically in PVR, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability and confidence to work with minimal supervision and proven strong leadership abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and open to take on a variety of operational challenges.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with proven analytical, trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required; ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
