Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Groundskeeper is responsible for completing the required tasks such as mowing grass with power equipment or hand tools, load and unload mulch, dirt, gravel, etc. trimming, and snow removal. Also maintaining quality control and contract retention for all grounds keeping/landscaper accounts assigned. The landscaper will clean an assigned area in a safe and efficient manner while attending to the landscaping needs of the individuals working in that area.

Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the individuals served.

Type of supervision exercised: None. Jobs reporting to this position: None.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

One (1) year of landscaping experience preferred.

Six (6) months of custodial experience is preferred.

SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff, clients, and external agencies.

Must be cleared to work in the building(s) assigned. This clearance obtained is determined by the contact requirements and may include the following: personal references, criminal record, child abuse clearance, etc.

Must be able to provide excellent customer service.

Must have a valid PA drivers license.

Will become competent in areas designated by program policies.

Needs to be able to work a flexible schedule work time.

Good communication and interpersonal skills are desired.

Is to adhere to established company and program policies and procedures related to safety and infection control.

ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS:

Position involves exposure to various chemical and cleaning agents.

Position will be offered a Hepatitis B vaccine in compliance with OSHA requirements.

Position will require exposure to chemicals.

Position will require frequent exposure to hazardous machinery: lawnmowers, hedge trimmer, weed whackers, etc.

Position will often require driving of large golf cart.

Occasional exposure to blood spills, communicable diseases, body substances, and various chemicals and cleaning agents.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed on the grounds of corporate, individual health care facility, office, and manufacturing areas.

Occasionally working during high temperature days.

Normally within office environment or health care facility.
