Job description

Electrical Engineer – Motor Control, Embedded Systems & Power Electronics

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and support advanced motor control and power electronics used in subsea and electromechanical products. This hands-on role is ideal for engineers with experience developing brushless motor drives, embedded hardware, PCB designs, and motion control systems in a manufacturing environment.

You will collaborate with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, procurement, suppliers, and customers to bring products from concept through production while supporting continuous product improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for electromechanical products including motors, actuators, sensors, and power electronics.
  • Develop brushless motor drivers and supporting analog and digital circuitry.
  • Design embedded hardware utilizing microcontrollers, PWM, ADCs, DACs, and serial communication interfaces.
  • Create schematics, PCB layouts, bills of materials (BOMs), and prototype hardware.
  • Perform circuit validation, troubleshooting, laboratory testing, and product verification.
  • Improve existing designs for performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
  • Support manufacturing during product assembly, testing, and production launch.
  • Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and engineering documentation.
  • Lead or participate in design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA activities, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Serve as Project Engineer for custom development projects, coordinating technical execution, schedules, and customer communication.
  • Provide technical support to customers and travel occasionally when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 5–10 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
  • Experience designing brushless motor control systems and three-phase motor drive electronics.
  • Strong knowledge of power electronics including MOSFETs, IGBTs, gate drivers, and power stage design.
  • Experience designing embedded hardware using microcontrollers and mixed-signal circuitry.
  • Experience with PCB schematic capture, layout, prototype development, and hardware testing.
  • Understanding of embedded systems including PWM, ADC, DAC, timers, and serial communication interfaces.
  • Experience creating BOMs and supporting prototype builds through production.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Altium Designer.
  • Experience designing electromechanical systems such as actuators, propulsion systems, robotics, industrial automation equipment, or subsea products.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), ERP/MRP systems, ECO processes, and product lifecycle management.
  • Experience leading design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA, and manufacturing handoffs.
  • Experience supervising prototype assembly or supporting technicians during integration and testing.

Benefits

  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Medical insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Flexible benefits plan
  • Paid vacation
  • Paid sick leave
  • Paid holidays
