DESCRIPTION:

As a Quality Control Manager at Black Construction, reporting to the Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to: Manage a variety of quality control engineering and inspection work related to a specific discipline, i.e., civil, structural, architectural finishes, mechanical, electrical low and medium installations of conductors and equipment, piping, welding, NDE and/or electric. You will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, core values, and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to: training, and mentoring employees; planning and directing corrective work; appraising performance.

  • Develop understanding/working knowledge of company quality control program, company standards, procedures, codes, etc. required to perform assigned work.

  • Review, comment upon and control design and product submittal process.

  • Perform quality control inspections and witness tests to determine the acceptability of work.

  • Schedule and coordinate QA inspectors with Owner's Rep.

  • Assist in maintaining work performance records, inspection records and other related items; assure correctness of all documents.

  • Assist in preparation/implementation of quality control procedures, i.e., inspection instructions, control measuring and test equipment, etc.

  • Participate in internal/external quality control audits.

  • Assist in reviewing purchase order documents to Ensure compliance with quality control requirements.

  • Inspect and inventory material shipments for compliance.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field or a related program from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum Five (5) years of experience as a QC Manager.

  • Ten (10) or more years of combined experience as a QC Manager, Superintendent, Project Manager, Construction Manager or Project Engineer on similar size and type construction contracts which include the major trades that are part of this contract.

  • Must be familiar with requirements of USACE EM385-1-1 and experience in the areas of hazard identification, safety compliance and sustainability.

  • Thorough working knowledge of regulatory agency quality assurance/quality control activities preferably with NAVFAC/ACOE or US Air Force.

  • Experience managing quality control, quality assurance on commercial building and heavy civil projects. valued at $20M or more.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to work with multi-national ethnicities' personnel.

  • Experience on Federal or municipal projects is preferred.

  • Must be able to work in the U.S. and its territories.
