What You'll Do

As a Remote Medical Records Coder, you'll be responsible for accurately reviewing and coding a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient medical records while ensuring compliance with national coding standards and documentation requirements.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Review inpatient and outpatient medical records for completeness and coding accuracy.
  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and Evaluation & Management (E/M) codes.
  • Analyze complex clinical documentation and identify opportunities for coding accuracy.
  • Communicate with providers to clarify documentation when additional information is needed.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, HIPAA, and established coding guidelines.
  • Maintain exceptional quality standards with a minimum 95% coding accuracy.
  • Meet productivity and turnaround time expectations.
  • Participate in quality reviews, audits, and ongoing coding education.
  • Collaborate with coding leadership, auditors, and clinical teams to improve documentation quality.
  • Protect patient privacy while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.


What We're Looking For

We're seeking experienced coding professionals who combine technical expertise with strong analytical skills and a commitment to excellence.


Required Qualifications

  • Active certification in one of the following:
  • RHIT
  • RHIA
  • CCS
  • CCS-P
  • CPC
  • Minimum of 3 years of continuous inpatient and/or outpatient hospital medical coding experience.
  • Experience coding complex medical records within an acute care or large healthcare environment.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • ICD-10-CM
  • ICD-10-PCS
  • CPT
  • HCPCS
  • Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding
  • Experience using electronic health record systems and coding software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while consistently meeting quality and productivity expectations.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background and security screening.


Preferred Experience
