Job description

Position Summary: Dematic has an immediate need for a Contract Manager to support the continual growth of Dematic's North American project business. This position is responsible for partnering closely with the project management team to support risk mitigation for the business and ensure enforcement of contractual rights when vital. The person in this position will perform duties such as analyzing, interpreting, and explaining contract concepts, reviewing/editing contract change orders, and working with the project team to realize all possible opportunities to mitigate overspending by using claims appropriately.
We seek a candidate with strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities. They will work closely with various technical fields and internal departments, including Project Management and the Legal team. In order to be successful, the ideal candidate will use their strong interpersonal skills to serve as an advisor and subject matter expert on multiple simultaneous projects within a corporate setting. This position involves some travel (20% or less), the majority of which will be to North American project installation sites, although some travel may be overseas (Germany).We offer:

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $84,750 - $124,300 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

What You Will do in This Role:

  • Provide end-to-end contract interpretation support for various sizes of Dematic projects, often simultaneously
  • Respond promptly and accurately with minimal direction to business requests for advice related to sophisticated contracts and escalate to legal team and others where required
  • Prepare analysis to identify key terms, comparisons to our standard agreements and recommend strategy to business as needed
  • Develop and maintain templates, standard operating procedures for contracting processes and monitor associated metrics
  • Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and processes impacting the legal and project management teams

What We Are Looking For:

  • BS/BA in related subject area or significant experience in contract management and/or project management roles
  • Minimum of three (3) years contract management experience with emphasis on project management related work and preparing/reviewing requests for proposals, bid documents, contracts, and change orders
  • Ability to identify and resolve moderately sophisticated problems and apply problem-solving skills
  • Experience in applying knowledge of drafting and reviewing contracts
  • Able to understand and explain contractual terms to a lay audience with a focus on interpretation and application of real-world risks and obligations
  • Aptitude for working with and advising groups responsible for managing projects as a subject matter expert
  • Able to execute tasks for multiple ongoing projects simultaneously
  • Able to work independently, identify tasks to be done, and maintain efficiency without frequent and consistent direction
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of basic project life cycle
  • Demonstrates ability to apply knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to commercial contract
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills preferred
