Government Contracts Attorney

Location: Washington, DC

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Government Contracts Attorney to join a dynamic legal team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have strong experience advising clients on federal government contracting matters, regulatory compliance, bid protests, and contract disputes involving government agencies and contractors.


Key Responsibilities

Advise clients on federal, state, and local government contracting matters and procurement regulations

Provide legal guidance regarding FAR, DFARS, compliance requirements, and government procurement policies

Draft, review, and negotiate government contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, and related transactional documents

Handle bid protests, contract claims, disputes, investigations, and administrative proceedings

Counsel clients on compliance matters involving audits, cybersecurity requirements, ethics regulations, and contractor obligations

Conduct legal research and prepare motions, briefs, memoranda, and other legal documents

Represent contractors in matters before agencies, boards, and federal courts

Assist clients with internal investigations, risk assessments, and compliance programs

Stay current on developments in government procurement laws, regulations, and agency guidance

Maintain strong client relationships and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice


Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Active Bar license in good standing (DC Bar preferred or ability to waive into DC)

3+ years of government contracts or federal procurement law experience preferred

Strong knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and federal procurement regulations

Experience handling bid protests, claims, investigations, or compliance matters

Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills

Ability to independently manage multiple matters and deadlines

Strong organizational and client counseling abilities
