Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)


Location: Bridgeport, WA

Duration: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire Potential

Project: Industrial Power Generation Project


We're partnering with a leading power generation client to hire an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) for a major hydroelectric modernization project in Bridgeport, Washington.


This is a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension or direct hire based on performance and project needs.


This role is ideal for a safety professional with experience supporting industrial construction, heavy civil, utility, power generation, or EPC projects, particularly those familiar with federal safety standards.


Responsibilities

  • Lead all site safety and health initiatives throughout construction activities.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety programs and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with USACE EM385-1-1, OSHA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety orientations, and ongoing safety training.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and work permits.
  • Partner with project management, subcontractors, and field personnel to foster a strong safety culture.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, inspection reports, training records, and incident logs.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industrial construction safety experience.
  • Experience serving as a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) or similar lead safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of USACE EM385-1-1 requirements.
  • OSHA 30 Construction certification.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, investigations, and training on active construction sites.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 500 certification.
  • CSP or ASP certification.
  • Experience on hydroelectric, power generation, utility, heavy civil, infrastructure, or industrial construction projects.
