The Transload Operator is responsible for coordinating and executing the safe and efficient transfer of frac sand from railcars to semi trucks at the transload facility. This role ensures proper sequencing of truck loading, accurate handling of sand conveyance systems, and continuous communication with drivers, yard personnel, and leadership. The Transload Operator plays a critical role in maintaining production flow, safety compliance, and operational efficiency within the transload yard.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the unloading of frac sand from railcars and the loading of sand into semi trucks in accordance with operational schedules and production requirements.
  • Operate, monitor, and assist with sand conveyor systems and related transload equipment to ensure safe and efficient material transfer.
  • Direct truck traffic within the transload yard to maintain safe movement, proper positioning, and efficient loading operations.
  • Communicate clearly with truck drivers regarding loading procedures, sequencing, and safety expectations.
  • Conduct pre-shift and ongoing inspections of railcars, conveyors, and loading areas to identify leaks, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain accurate awareness of sand inventory, railcar status, and truck loading progress throughout the shift.
  • Keep the transload yard clean, organized, and free of hazards to support continuous operations.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, sand flow issues, or safety concerns immediately to the Supervisor, Transload or Manager, Transload Operations.
  • Support operations during inclement weather, high-volume loading periods, or emergency situations as needed.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Properly wear required PPE including steel-toed boots, high-visibility safety apparel, and additional PPE as required.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership and team members using company communication platforms, including Slack and company email.
  • Accurately clock in and out using UKG and comply with attendance and scheduling requirements.
  • Adapt to changing production demands, schedules, and operational priorities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in transload operations, material handling, frac sand operations, rail yard operations, or truck loading preferred.
  • Ability to operate or assist with conveyor systems, loaders, or similar material handling equipment preferred.
  • Strong focus on safety with the ability to follow procedures and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with drivers, team members, and leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an operations team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach to operational challenges.
  • Ability to adapt to schedule changes, shift work, and varying operational demands.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Physical Requirements:
  • Perform tasks outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and inclement weather.
  • Able to wear proper PPE including but not limited to steel-toed boots, coveralls, hard hat/bump cap, safety glasses, and appropriate gloves when necessary.
  • Climb ladders, stairs, and equipment; bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, pull, push, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand for extended periods of time.
