Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Catering Staff supports the Catering Department through the optimal execution of catered events to ensure a positive experience for all associated with events in order to further the Broward Center's image as a premier performing arts center.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Deliver premiere customer service to all guests, follow established catering procedures, and to support the success of all catering events.
  • Assist in pre and post event set up and break down including tables, linens, chairs, bars and anything else that is required.
  • Assist servers in delivery of orders to guests' table.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of each catered event as directed by the Catering & Events Manager.
  • Check patrons' identification in order to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Ensure clients are enjoying their event experience and take action to correct any issues.
  • Accurately follow the outlined dress code and will appear neat and clean (uniform and personal hygiene).
  • Follow outlined Catering Department's procedures and instructions from supervisory staff to provide patrons with the best possible catering experience.
  • Request additional information in any situation where instructions are not 100% clear.
  • Accurately clock in and out for the shift.
  • Read menu contracts and implement set up as assigned.
  • Initiate resolution to client issues when appropriate or immediately request assistance from a supervisor.
  • Attend all necessary internal and external meetings in order to provide and receive accurate and timely communication regarding the coordination of Food and Beverage's Catering Department's initiatives/objectives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the Broward Center's and Catering Department policies and procedures and to implement them correctly.
  • Will complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • Able to lift and carry a minimum of 20 pounds and work standing on feet, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting for several hours.
  • Able to carry heavy food trays properly.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to cross train in other food and beverage related jobs that are needed for a catered event.
  • Able to exhibit appropriate, professional, and corporate demeanor, considerable tact, and courtesy when interacting with internal and external patrons in a variety of situations.
  • Able to work effectively and positively with others.

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School, High School Equivalent, or Higher: General or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
