What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Contract Events roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Contract Events often face challenges such as managing tight deadlines, coordinating with multiple vendors, and ensuring compliance with contract terms. Balancing client expectations while handling last-minute changes is also common. Collaborating closely with legal, procurement, and event planning teams is essential for smooth execution and risk mitigation.

What are contract events?

Contract events refer to planned activities or gatherings that are organized based on the terms of a contract. These can include conferences, meetings, corporate parties, trade shows, and other professional events where roles, responsibilities, and deliverables are clearly outlined in a formal agreement. A contract event manager typically oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of such events to ensure all contractual obligations are met, including budget, logistics, and client expectations. This role often requires strong organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Contract Events Manager, and why are they important?

To excel as a Contract Events Manager, you need expertise in event planning, contract negotiation, and project management, often supported by a degree in hospitality, business, or a related field. Familiarity with event management software (such as Cvent or Eventbrite), budgeting tools, and contract management systems is typically required. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are crucial soft skills that set top performers apart. These competencies ensure seamless event execution, cost-effective contract handling, and positive stakeholder experiences.

Poker Event Content Creator (Contract) / Créateur de contenu - Événements de poker (Contrat)

Playground

Kahnawake, QC • On-site

Contractor

Posted 24 days ago

Job description

About Us

Playground is an internationally renowned gaming destination located a short 15-minute drive south of downtown Montreal, within the Mohawk territory of Kahnawà:ke. Home to 60+ poker tables, 1,200+ electronic gaming devices and multiple restaurants, Playground is currently in an exciting period of expansion and continues to grow as a world-class entertainment destination.

Position Overview

The Poker Event Content Creator is a contract role responsible for capturing, producing, and publishing social media content during Playground’s major poker events and tournament series. This role functions as a live reporter on the floor — filming key moments, identifying compelling hands, and producing polished short-form video content (Reels, Stories, Shorts) in real-time or near-real-time.

A core deliverable of this role is the creation of hand breakdown overlays: visually representing the complete action of a hand from preflop to showdown, displaying each player’s hole cards, community cards, and decision points.

This person must understand poker deeply enough to identify which hands are worth covering, why a decision matters, and how to frame the story for both seasoned players and casual viewers.

Department: Marketing / Poker

Schedule: Contract — event-based (variable hours including evenings and weekends during tournament series)

Reports to: Marketing

Location: Kahnawà:ke, QC, Canada (on-site)

What We Have to Offer

  • Competitive contract compensation
  • Free meals while on shift
  • Access to one of the largest poker rooms in North America
  • Opportunity to build a portfolio around high-profile events, including WSOP Circuit
  • A dynamic, fast-paced environment where your content reaches a passionate audience

Responsibilities

  • Capture live video, photo, and audio content on the tournament floor during major poker events
  • Identify and document notable hands, key moments, bad beats, big pots, and storylines as they happen
  • Produce short-form video content (Reels, Shorts, Stories) optimized for each platform, delivered same-day or next-morning
  • Create hand breakdown overlay content: visual reconstructions of hands showing player hole cards, board runouts, and outcomes in a broadcast-style TV table format
  • Use motion graphics, text overlays, and card assets to bring hand replays to life for social audiences
  • Work with the Marketing team to align content with Playground’s brand voice, promotional calendar, and event messaging
  • Conduct brief on-camera interviews or reactions with players when appropriate
  • Organize and archive raw footage, selects, and final assets for post-event use
  • Stay current on social media trends, poker content formats, and platform algorithm best practices
  • Deliver content that drives engagement, follows, and shares across Playground’s social channels

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Texas Hold’em (and ideally PLO); must understand hand rankings, betting rounds, pot odds, position play, and what makes a hand compelling to watch
  • Proven experience creating short-form video content for social media (portfolio or examples required)
  • Proficiency in mobile and desktop video editing tools (CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or equivalent)
  • Ability to create graphic overlays for hand breakdowns: card visuals, player labels, pot displays, and action sequences
  • Familiarity with Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Reels formatting, aspect ratios, and best practices
  • Strong eye for storytelling and pacing in short-form content
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, live environment with minimal supervision
  • Must have a valid work permit or be a Canadian resident
  • Availability to work variable hours during events, including evenings and weekends

Nice to Have

  • Experience with poker media, poker streaming, or poker content creation
  • Motion graphics or animation skills for card reveal and hand replay sequences
  • Experience with live reporting or event coverage in a sports or gaming context
  • Existing social media following or portfolio in the poker/gaming space
  • Knowledge of OBS, streaming overlays, or broadcast production workflows
  • Bilingual (English and French); ability to produce content and captions in both languages

All applicants must complete a pre-employment background check.
