If you are a team player with a passion to drive your career in Electrical Engineering, Popli Design Group (PDG) is the place for you! PDG is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Project Engineer to add to our growing and talented team.


As an Electrical Engineer at PDG, your responsibilities include designing complete building electrical systems, assigning and reviewing work of junior team members, assisting in schedule development, editing specifications, and receiving general reviews of your work. The Project Engineer should also be able to work independently with minimal mentoring and minimal guidance.


The requirements for the Electrical Engineer position at PDG include advanced working knowledge of electrical circuit theory and design, as well as a deep understanding of building power distribution and computer network systems with associated communications infrastructure. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET Accredited program, have completed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, and be on track for or hold Professional Engineering (PE) certification in New York State. A minimum of six years of experience in designing building electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarm, and special systems, is required.


Responsibilities

  • Design of complete building electrical systems for both new and renovated buildings including power, lighting, fire alarm and other special systems.
  • Assigns tasks to, coordinates work of and reviews work of entry-level and junior engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Assist in developing schedule and workload requirements for entry-level and junior engineers, designers and technicians.
  • Edits specifications from standard libraries.
  • Receive general review of all aspects of work.

Requirements

  • Advanced working knowledge of electrical circuit theory and design.
  • Advanced understanding of building power distribution.
  • Advanced understanding of computer network systems and associated communications infrastructure within buildings.
  • Advanced understanding of signals / controls.
  • Proficient technical Report Writing Ability with fluency using the English Language.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), CAD Proficiency in both AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of the National Electric Code (N.E.C. / NFPA 70).
  • Ability to learn new skills to learn new skills and adapt to non-routine problems.
  • Knowledge / Experience with lighting technologies for buildings.

Experience, Education, and Certification

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited program.
  • Successful Completion of the Professional Engineering (PE) requirements in New York State, or within one year of obtaining such with a prior EIT.
  • A Valid Driver's License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required.
  • Six (6) years of experience in design of building electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm and special systems.

Work Environment

  • Travel between Syracuse, Rochester, Binghamton and Buffalo Office, as well as to project sites will be required on occasion.
  • Interact with client and assist with communication and contracts regarding clients.

Physical Demands

  • The job requires prolonged periods of sitting at a computer.
  • Travel will be required within NY State.
