ASI is expanding its teams to support its current ramp-up across development work, customer projects, and product deployments. This is a full-time W-2 contract position. The selected candidate will interview with ASI and work as an integrated member of the ASI team. W-2 employment, payroll, and benefits will be administered through one of ASI's staffing partners. Development phases of this nature typically span up to project completion (typically 2-4 years), though scope and duration are driven by business needs.JOB SUMMARYThe Electrical Designer II supports the design, documentation, integration, and release of electrical systems for ASI's autonomous reach stacker platforms. This role creates and maintains electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, harness documentation, panel layouts, installation details, bills of materials, and related technical documentation needed to build, test, and support autonomous heavy equipment.As a Level II designer, this position independently completes defined electrical design and documentation tasks while working under the guidance of electrical engineers and senior technical team members. The role supports the integration of sensors, computers, controllers, power distribution, communication networks, safety circuits, and vehicle interfaces required for autonomous reach stacker operation in container-handling and material-handling environments.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCreate, update, and maintain electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, schematics, cable assemblies, and installation documentationSupport electrical design activities for autonomous reach stacker platforms, subsystems, and vehicle integration projectsDevelop and maintain electrical documentation for sensors, embedded computers, controllers, communication systems, power distribution, safety circuits, and vehicle interfacesAssist with wire harness design, connector selection, pinouts, cable routing, strain relief, labeling, and installation detailsCreate and maintain bills of materials, part lists, drawing packages, revision records, and release documentationSupport layout and documentation of electrical panels, control boxes, junction boxes, sensor mounts, wiring routes, and integration hardwareWork with electrical engineers to translate design concepts, markups, sketches, redlines, and requirements into accurate production-ready documentationSupport integration of cameras, LiDAR, radar, GPS/GNSS, IMUs, antennas, compute hardware, vehicle controllers, and communication equipmentSupport documentation for CAN networks, Ethernet communication, power circuits, grounding, fusing, relays, switches, emergency stops, and safety-related electrical systemsAssist with electrical design changes, engineering change requests, engineering change orders, and drawing-release processesReview drawings and documentation for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, serviceability, and compliance with team standardsSupport prototype builds, vehicle integration, troubleshooting, and installation activities in shop and field environmentsWork with technicians, engineers, manufacturing, test, and field teams to resolve documentation or installation questionsCapture and incorporate redlines, field feedback, build feedback, and test findings into updated electrical documentationSupport troubleshooting of electrical integration issues involving wiring, connectors, sensors, power, communication, controls, and documentation discrepanciesMaintain organized CAD files, drawing packages, documentation records, and configuration-controlled design dataParticipate in design reviews, build reviews, and technical discussions related to electrical technical certificate, or equivalent experience in Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related technical fieldTypically two or more years of experience in electrical design, electrical drafting, wire harness design, controls documentation, vehicle electrical systems, automation systems, or related technical design workExperience creating and maintaining electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, cable assemblies, or panel layoutsExperience using electrical CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, Zuken, Capital, Altium, or similar design platformsBasic understanding of electrical circuits, power distribution, grounding, fusing, relays, connectors, sensors, and communication
