Department: Electrical Business Unit

FLSA Designation: Exempt

Reports To: Business Unit Leader, Operations Manager

PURPOSE

This is a salary position exempt from overtime, responsible for supporting Baker Group’s Electrical Project Managers. Create and develop relationships supportive of the Baker Group mission statement with employees, internal and external customers. Manage projects in a manner that compliments all facets of the project from design to owner training. Maintain and grow the “Customer for Life” concept for existing and new customers. Performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be constructed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Work with the Project Manager to perform engineering - equipment selection, material submittal review, development of full electrical submittal package for approval by the project team, utilizing Baker Group’s standard submittal format
  • Attend internal and external project meetings, provide written/verbal communication regarding information requests, proposal requests, coordination, submittal reviews, etc.
  • Continuously develop relationships with existing customers and pursue opportunities which provide long-term customer relationships and revenue opportunities
  • Maintain technical expertise on all new electrical technologies, products, and tools through continuing education initiatives
  • Utilize company standard documents for business development, pre-proposal checklists, turnovers, subcontracts, purchase orders, warranty, etc.
  • Provide sales support as needed to assist project managers obtain more work by assisting in system design, material selection, estimating, and creating proposals
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by continual communication with customer on scheduling coordination, project progress, and obtain feedback on Baker Group’s performance, communicating any positive or negative feedback to team
  • Support execution structure implementation by the Operations Manager, provide input and suggestions for discussion and implementation
  • Assist in coordination of internal and external project meetings, track meeting action items and provide appropriate follow-up
  • Understand project scope, deliver on client expectations, and identify opportunities for work above and beyond contracted scope
  • Understand and adhere to contract terms and conditions
  • Identify, estimate, and propose change orders
  • Produce revenue forecasts based upon projects assigned
  • Assist Project Manager with schedule coordination and cost-control to meet or beat estimated project costs on assigned projects
  • Engineer and produce project submittals utilizing Baker Group standards, select Baker Group’s standard parts when applicable, and provide field staff with information needed to be productive
  • Procure subcontracts as required for installation – utilize procurement documented format when obtaining multiple bids
  • Utilize company standard documents for business development, pre-proposal checklists, turnovers, subcontracts, purchase orders, warranty, etc.
  • Accurate daily time and equipment reporting

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • 4 Year Engineering Degree with no experience
  • 2 Year Technical Degree with 5 years’ experience

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Potential to move into Design Engineer role with a Professional Engineer (PE) designation

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • High level of concentration to mentally work through issues
  • Be able to work within a construction site with uneven surfaces to walk on and be aware of other dangers

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

  • Inside work is typical, space temperature is not always at 72°F
  • Occasional outside work is required to visit construction sites and assess conditions in existing buildings
  • Dress appropriate for comfort and safety in accordance with Jobsite or Baker Group Safety rules

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS

  • Desktop or Laptop Computer work will be the majority of time
  • Small hand tools may be required to perform work
