Job Title: CNC MachinistJob DescriptionThe CNC Machinist sets up, operates, and adjusts a wide range of conventional and automatic machines, including CNC equipment, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other precision machinery. This role focuses on custom machining, requiring frequent changeovers, program writing and editing, and close collaboration with manufacturing team members to ensure high-quality parts are produced efficiently and accurately.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines, including 2โ5 axis equipment such as horizontal machines with tombstones, vertical machines (some with indexers), lathes, and a 5-axis Integrex.
- Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs to meet overall part and process requirements, using G-code and G&M code as needed.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to create precise machined parts that meet specifications.
- Perform custom machining work, including changing over machines multiple times per shift to accommodate different parts and jobs.
- Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to inspect parts and verify dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Handle machine changeovers independently, demonstrating a strong understanding of CNC machine logic and control systems.
- Post-edit CNC programs to fine-tune machining processes for optimal performance, quality, and efficiency.
- Identify worn tools, replace tooling as appropriate, and ensure proper tool selection and setup for each job.
- Set up jobs, run production, and perform in-process and final inspection of machined parts.
- Troubleshoot CNC programs and machine operations, locate errors, and implement corrective actions to maintain smooth production.
- Assist manufacturing team members with machine setup and share technical expertise to support overall production goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and controlled work area and follow established procedures and safety practices during all machining operations.
Essential Skills- At least 4 years of CNC machining experience or completion of a CNC technical degree program.
- Strong CNC programming skills, including writing, editing, and troubleshooting programs using G-code and G&M code.
- Demonstrated ability to set up and operate CNC machines, including horizontal and vertical machining centers, lathes, and 5-axis equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings to produce accurate parts.
- Hands-on experience with CNC setups, changeovers, and tear downs in a custom machining environment.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to inspect and verify part quality.
- Solid understanding of CNC machine logic, control systems, and tooling concepts.
- Capability to detect worn tools and perform timely tooling replacements to maintain part quality and machine performance.
- Experience working with control systems and machine platforms such as Mazak, Haas, Fanuc, and similar CNC controls.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- CNC technical degree or trade school education in CNC machining is preferred.
- Experience with machines such as HAAS, MORI SEIKI, MAZAK, BROTHER, MITSUBISHI, and BRIDGEPORT is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with multi-axis machining, including 2โ5 axis operations and tombstone fixturing.
- Comfort working with power clamp and manual clamp components or similar precision industrial products.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues independently.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards in a custom machining environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a controlled, clean manufacturing environment with approximately 125 employees, focused on producing precision power clamps and manual clamps. You work primarily on CNC machinery, including HAAS, MORI SEIKI, MAZAK, BROTHER, MITSUBISHI, BRIDGEPORT, and related equipment, using controls such as Mazak, Haas, and Fanuc. The position is on a third shift schedule, typically Sunday through Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., with additional hours on Thursday night as needed. The facility emphasizes organized workspaces, consistent processes, and the use of precision measuring tools to maintain quality and safety throughout machining operations.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
