Property Management Accounting Consultant (Ledger Reconciliation Focus)
Indianapolis, IN (On-site w/ local travel) | Consulting Engagement
Step into a high-impact consulting role where your expertise will immediately improve financial accuracy across a multi-property portfolio. If you enjoy digging into discrepancies, solving complex ledger issues, and bringing clarity to financialsโ€”this is your opportunity to make a visible difference.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Make an immediate impact by stabilizing financial operations across 38 properties
  • Work directly with executive leadership (CFO & Controller) on high-visibility issues
  • Take ownership of identifying problems and implementing solutions
  • Ideal for someone who thrives on investigative, detail-driven accounting work
  • Collaborate with property managers and leadership across multiple sites
  • Gain exposure to a diverse real estate portfolio, including subsidized housing environments
  • Opportunity to expand hours based on performance and project needs
  • Local travel to nearby Indianapolis-area properties for hands-on review

What Youโ€™ll Be Doing
  • Reconcile tenant/resident ledgers with the general ledger to ensure accuracy and alignment
  • Review lease agreements and HAP contracts to validate charges, payments, and entries
  • Audit prepaid and delinquency reports, identifying and correcting discrepancies
  • Investigate coding errors, payment misapplications, and billing mismatches
  • Identify root causes of financial inconsistencies and implement corrections
  • Partner with leadership and property teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence

What You Bring
  • 7โ€“10+ years of property management accounting or related experience
  • Strong expertise in tenant ledger and general ledger reconciliation
  • Experience interpreting leases, subleases, and housing-related contracts (HAP preferred)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to quickly spot discrepancies
  • Ability to step in with minimal training and operate independently
  • Comfortable working on-site with occasional local travel
  • Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, data tracking; pivot tables a plus)
  • Experience with RealPage OneSite or similar systems is a plus
