Accounting Consultant (Contract | 9-12 Months)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant to support a growing organization through a variety of complex accounting initiatives and day-to-day accounting operations. This consultant will play a key role in managing revenue billing, full-cycle accounting, M&A integration support, accounts payable operations, and month-end close activities.
The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, thrives in fast-paced environments, and has a proven track record of successfully delivering results in consulting, contract, or project-based accounting roles. Experience within the oil & gas industry is a plus but is not required.
Contract Length: 9-12 Months

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee full-cycle accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close.
- Support and maintain revenue billing processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely invoicing.
- Assist with M&A activities, including acquisition integration, purchase accounting support, balance sheet validation, and process alignment.
- Oversee and improve accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, vendor management, and payment workflows.
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances across balance sheet and P&L accounts.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for management and key stakeholders.
- Partner with finance, operations, and business leaders to streamline accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
- Support audits and assist with requests from external auditors and other compliance-related activities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive operational efficiencies.
- Participate in special projects and business initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to:
- Revenue accounting and billing
- Full-cycle accounting
- Month-end close
- Account reconciliations
- Financial reporting
- Accounts payable operations
- Previous experience working as a consultant, contractor, interim accountant, or project-based accounting professional.
- Experience supporting accounting projects during periods of transformation, growth, acquisitions, or system implementations.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to quickly assess processes, identify gaps, and implement solutions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across multiple business functions.
This position is fully on-site, 5 days/week. Candidates need to be local to Dallas.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $85.00/hr.
