About This Role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Accounting Consultant to support a high-volume lease accounting initiative focused on technical accounting analysis, documentation, and audit readiness. The ideal candidate will evaluate complex lease arrangements, apply ASC 842 guidance, and develop well-supported accounting conclusions for a large and evolving lease portfolio.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical accounting background, experience interpreting complex contractual arrangements, and the ability to produce clear, audit-ready documentation while operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
W2 Hourly Rate: $80-90/hr DOE
What You Will Work On
  • Perform technical accounting assessments and analyses in accordance with ASC 842.
  • Review and interpret lease agreements and related contractual arrangements to determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Evaluate lease modifications, reassessments, embedded leases, and other complex lease accounting matters.
  • Research and apply U.S. GAAP to complex or non-standard lease transactions, documenting key judgments and accounting conclusions.
  • Prepare technical accounting memoranda, position papers, and supporting documentation to support financial reporting and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Legal, Real Estate, Procurement, and other cross-functional stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and document accounting positions.
  • Support audit readiness by developing comprehensive, well-supported accounting documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Assist in establishing standardized methodologies, documentation practices, and scalable processes for lease accounting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve lease accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and reduce operational risk.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support on emerging lease accounting issues as business needs evolve.

What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in technical accounting, accounting advisory, public accounting, or corporate accounting.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of ASC 842.
  • Experience supporting the end-to-end lease accounting lifecycle, including lease modifications, reassessments, embedded lease evaluations, unit of account assessments, and control and substitution rights analysis.
  • Experience preparing technical accounting memo and documenting accounting positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex contracts and apply accounting guidance to non-standard transactions.
  • Strong accounting research, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment while working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Big Four or national accounting advisory experience is strongly preferred.
