Job description

Job Summary:
Viasat is a global company on a mission to deliver transformative connections. They are seeking an experienced Technical Product Owner to lead the evolution of their 3GPP Core Network capability, focusing on NB-IoT Non-Terrestrial Networks and 5G NR use cases.
Responsibilities:
• Own and manage the global product roadmap for NB‑IoT NTN and 5G NR NTN Core Network capabilities.
• Define and prioritize technical requirements that enhance NTN performance, roaming behaviors, attach procedures, mobility, and service continuity for satellite‑enabled devices.
• Embed the end‑to‑end NTN device and service journey into solution design to ensure seamless interaction between RAN‑NTN, satellite systems, and 3GPP Core.
• Execute against architectural governance, performance KPIs, and service‑level expectations for large‑scale NTN deployments across multiple geographies and regulatory regions.
• Engage as a key participant in the integration strategy between core systems and upstream/downstream elements, including gNB‑NTN, RAN Intelligent Controllers, OSS/BSS, and cloud‑native orchestration platforms.
• Oversee vendor relationships, licensing, and partner engagement related to 3GPP Core (e.g., AMF/SMF/UPF vendors, network function suppliers).
• Collaborate with systems engineering to map 3GPP Release 17/18/19 NTN features into product capabilities and deployment milestones.
• Provide operational insight, performance trend analysis, and recommendations for scaling NTN connectivity, optimizing latency, and improving signaling efficiency.
• Support security, audit, and compliance requirements including 3GPP security architecture, lawful intercept, and data governance.
• Guide a distributed development and operations engineering team to deliver high‑availability, cloud‑native core solutions optimized for satellite propagation and mobility models.
• Drive ongoing product excellence through iterative refinement, customer feedback, and continuous alignment with emerging 3GPP standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5+ years as a Technical Product Owner or technical lead within mobile core networks, preferably including 3GPP‑based IoT or NTN solutions.
• Strong understanding of 3GPP Core Architecture and related service‑based interfaces.
• Experience with NB‑IoT, LTE‑M, or 5G NR, and an understanding of how these technologies adapt for NTN.
• Knowledge of network security fundamentals, SDLC, Agile delivery frameworks, and DevOps processes.
• Ability to build strong cross‑functional partnerships and deliver solutions aligned with product strategy, standards compliance, and global regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including ability to prepare materials for executive audiences.
• Proven experience leading large‑scale, enterprise or carrier‑grade network projects.
• General understanding of cloud‑native deployments (Kubernetes, microservices, CI/CD).
• BA/BS in EE/CS, telecommunications, networking, or equivalent experience.
• Up to 10% travel.
Preferred:
• Prior hands‑on experience with LTE/5G Core mobility architectures.
• Proven ability to translate complex 3GPP standards (e.g., Releases 17–19 NTN features) into real‑world, scalable product capabilities.
• Strong understanding of end‑to‑end enterprise and carrier architecture, data governance, and the ability to integrate AI‑driven insights into network performance and operations.
• Goal‑oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize and make trade‑offs in a dynamic, evolving technical environment.
