Job description

Meet the Team

Content designers at Splunk are integral to the product design process - not writers at the end of the pipeline, but strategic partners who shape how users understand and navigate complex enterprise software. You'll work across product teams to define terminology, create consistent UI text, establish information architecture, and develop content-led design patterns that scale.
This role sits within the Content Design and Information Architecture team and partners closely with product design, product management, engineering, research, and marketing. You'll contribute to Splunk's design system compliance while keeping the user experience coherent across a portfolio of security, observability, and platform products.

Your Impact

  • Design clear, consistent UI text across flows - labels, error messages, empty states, onboarding, tooltips, and more - in alignment with Splunk's style guide and design system

  • Lead information architecture and navigation design for complex product areas, using research to fit user mental models

  • Define and maintain cross-product terminology, partnering with product management and product marketing to resolve naming conflicts and drive durable decisions

  • Develop content-led guidelines and patterns (e.g. error messaging standards, capitalization, in-product help) that product designers and engineers can apply consistently

  • Create and maintain in-product guidance experiences, such as walkthroughs and tours, to support user onboarding and feature adoption

  • Collaborate on design system standards to ensure content patterns are compliant and reusable across the portfolio

  • Partner with design and research on usability studies and card sorting to validate content and navigation decisions

  • Support product designers on projects that lack dedicated content design coverage, providing frameworks and AI-assisted tools to maintain quality at scale

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's plus 5 years of related experience, or Master's plus 3 years of related experience. Related experience is understood to include content design and UX writing practice.

  • Experience in content design, UX writing, or a closely related field within complex software products

  • Strong command of UI text craft: you write clearly, concisely, and with a consistent voice across diverse UI surfaces

  • Ability to think structurally about information architecture, taxonomy, and navigation - not just individual strings

  • Comfort working with Figma and design systems; experience with Magnetic or similar enterprise design systems is a plus

  • Experience driving cross-functional alignment on terminology and naming decisions with product, marketing, and engineering stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates high adaptability and resilience in navigating ambiguity, with the ability to effectively articulate the strategic value of the discipline to key stakeholders.
