What is content strategy?

Content strategy is the process of planning, developing, and managing content—written or otherwise—to achieve specific business goals. It involves understanding the target audience, determining which types of content will be most effective, and organizing content across various channels in a cohesive way. A strong content strategy ensures consistency, relevance, and value, helping organizations attract and engage their audience while supporting overall objectives like brand awareness or lead generation.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a content strategist?

A Content Strategist needs expertise in content creation, digital marketing, and audience analysis, typically supported by a degree in communications, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools, and analytics platforms is essential for effective planning and performance tracking. Strong storytelling, project management, and collaboration skills help a Content Strategist excel in cross-functional teams and deliver engaging content. These competencies are vital for ensuring content aligns with business goals, resonates with target audiences, and drives measurable results.

How does a content strategist typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

Content Strategists frequently work cross-functionally with marketing, design, product, and SEO teams to ensure content aligns with broader business objectives and user needs. Regular meetings and collaborative planning sessions are common, as strategists gather input from stakeholders, provide guidance on brand voice, and coordinate content calendars. This collaboration helps maintain consistency across channels, streamline workflows, and measure the impact of content initiatives. Being proactive in communication and open to feedback are key to building strong working relationships in this role.

Job description

Why join us?

Handoff is the AI agent that runs a construction company. We help remodelers automate estimating, streamline operations, and win more work - backed by real-time cost data, intuitive design, and workflows that "speak contractor." With over 10,000 monthly active users and $6B in annualized project volume already flowing through our platform, we're becoming the trusted partner for the people who build our homes.

We are backed by $25M+ raised from Y Combinator, Initialized, and Greycroft. Our team is distributed across hubs in Austin, São Paulo, and Buenos Aires, and we are deeply focused on building intuitive, high-impact solutions that make a real difference for our users.

Content Marketing Manager at Handoff

We're hiring a Content Marketing Manager to build and own our content strategy from the ground up - creating a repeatable playbook that drives growth through SEO, high-quality storytelling, and cross-channel distribution. In this role, you'll define how content contributes to acquisition, shape our messaging, and ensure everything we publish is both high-impact and scalable.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong copywriting skills with strategic thinking, someone who has not only created content, but has built systems and playbooks that consistently generate results. You thrive in fast-paced environments, take ownership end-to-end, and are excited to turn content into a core growth engine.

What you'll do
  • Build and own Handoff’s content strategy, from ideation to execution and performance tracking.
  • Develop a repeatable content playbook that drives scalable growth across SEO and other channels.
  • Lead SEO strategy, including keyword research, topic clustering, and optimization frameworks.
  • Partner with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to translate real user insights into content.
  • Create and adapt content across blog, website, email (lifecycle), and social - tailoring messaging and format to each channel and audience.
  • Collaborate with designers and video producers to integrate visual formats into the content mix, ensuring written and visual content reinforce each other.
  • Establish clear KPIs and reporting to measure content performance and inform decisions.
  • Review and elevate content quality across all outputs, ensuring clarity, consistency, and impact.
  • Run structured experiments across content formats, channels, and messaging to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with content marketers and external contributors to scale production effectively.
  • Continuously refine strategy based on performance data, market trends, and company priorities.
About you
  • 5-7+ years of experience in content marketing or content strategy roles, ideally in B2B SaaS or high-growth startups.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling content strategies or playbooks that drive measurable growth.
  • Strong copywriting skills, with the ability to produce and evaluate high-quality written content.
  • Hands-on experience creating and adapting content across multiple channels - blog, website, email (lifecycle), and social, with a clear sense of how to tailor messaging for each format.
  • Comfortable collaborating on visual formats like video and graphics—you don't need to produce them independently, but you understand how they complement written content and can direct that work effectively.
  • Deep understanding of SEO, including keyword research, clustering, and tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, sales, or customer-facing teams.
  • Highly structured thinker with the ability to turn ambiguity into clear frameworks and plans.
  • Data-driven mindset, comfortable using metrics to guide decisions and iterate on strategy.
  • High ownership and bias toward action in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Bonus: Experience writing for contractors, trades, construction, or other blue-collar audiences.
  • Bonus: Exposure to product marketing, storytelling, or technical product education.
What we offer
  • Competitive Salary + Equity
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • 401(k)
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Life & Disability Insurance
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Dependent Care FSA (DC FSA)
  • Top-Notch Equipment
  • Team Offsites

If you're excited to build a content engine from the ground up and turn strategy into real growth, we'd love to meet you.
