POSITION SUMMARY & OVERALL OBJECTIVES

The Social Media & Digital Content Manager is responsible for creating engaging digital content that increases awareness, strengthens community engagement, and highlights the impact of Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County. This position manages the organization’s day-to-day social media presence, captures compelling stories through photography and video, and collaborates across departments to promote programs, events, fundraising campaigns, partnerships, and community initiatives.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Social Media Strategy & Management – 50%.

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of BGCDC’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other emerging platforms.
  • Develop and maintain a social media content calendar aligned with organizational priorities, campaigns, programs, and events.
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging posts, captions, stories, reels, short-form videos, graphics, and other platform-specific content.
  • Adapt organizational messaging for different platforms and audiences.
  • Monitor comments, messages, tags, and mentions and respond or route inquiries appropriately.
  • Maintain an active and consistent social media presence throughout the year.
  • Stay current on platform updates, digital trends, and nonprofit social media best practices.
  • Identify timely content opportunities and recommend new approaches to increase reach and engagement.
  • Track social media analytics and prepare regular performance reports.
  • Use performance data to recommend adjustments to content, posting schedules, and platform strategy.

Content Creation & Storytelling – 20%

  • Capture high-quality photo and video content at Club programs, community events, fundraising events, volunteer activities, and organizational initiatives.
  • Identify and develop compelling stories that demonstrate BGCDC’s mission and community impact.
  • Interview staff, Club members, alumni, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community partners when appropriate.
  • Produce short-form videos, reels, interviews, event recaps, and other digital storytelling content.
  • Edit photos and videos for use across social media, email, the website, presentations, and marketing materials.
  • Maintain an organized and searchable digital library of photos, videos, interviews, and completed content.
  • Obtain and follow appropriate photo releases, permissions, and youth privacy guidelines.
  • Ensure content is respectful, mission-aligned, and consistent with organizational messaging.

Marketing Campaigns & Event Promotion – 20%

  • Create and publish social media content supporting fundraising campaigns, organizational events, programs, volunteer opportunities, and community initiatives.
  • Develop promotional content before events, provide on-site social media coverage, and create post-event recaps.
  • Coordinate sponsor and partner recognition across social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure social media content aligns with organizational branding and campaign materials.
  • Collaborate with the Community Engagement Manager to promote community events, volunteer opportunities, partnerships, and donation drives.
  • Support fundraising and donor engagement by creating content that communicates organizational impact.
  • Assist with live event coverage, including stories, interviews, photos, videos, and real-time updates.

Administrative Support & Other Duties – 10%

  • Maintain an organized content calendar, digital asset library, and archive of published content.
  • Assist with routine website content updates and digital communications as assigned.
  • Provide photos, videos, graphics, and stories for email marketing, reports, presentations, sponsorship materials, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Track content requests and coordinate deadlines with staff across departments.
  • Participate in department planning meetings and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Support organization-wide events, including White Party, Shamrock Shuffle, Youth of the Year, and other special events as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the organization’s mission.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.
  • Must be able to travel throughout Dane County. A valid WI driver’s license and insurance are required if using a personal vehicle.

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the development team in creating fundraising strategies that align with organizational goals and incorporate them into the annual Resource Development Plan.?? Responsible for fiscal stewardship of organizational and grant-provided funds. ?

Internal: As an integral part of our team, you will maintain close, daily contact with BGCDC staff (both professional and volunteer), and your supervisor. This continuous communication ensures the seamless exchange of information, facilitates discussions on pertinent issues, clarifies guidelines and instructions, provides instruction and guidance, and offers counseling when necessary.

External: Externally, you will maintain contact as needed with various vendors, community groups and other stakeholders to foster collaborative relationships and assist in resolving any arising issues. By actively engaging with these external partners, you contribute to creating a supportive network for the organization.

Required Hours

This position is classified as exempt and full-time regular, requiring availability during operational hours (typically 9am-5:00pm) to fulfill the essential duties of the role, which will include working on holidays, weekends, and evenings as necessary to support events. The position requires travel to off-site Clubs, meetings, and events.

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals. The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts, and/or technical information with others. Physical abilities required include bending at the waist and reaching above the shoulder to maintain files, speaking, and hearing to exchange information, and dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. The employee must be able to sit for extended periods. The employee will have extended periods of standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, jumping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
