Apple Podcasts will launch a new experience for video that is redefining the podcast industry, and we are looking to hire an audience-minded and innovative expert with genuine video expertise to help inform and editorialize our new video podcast offering. This role is pivotal in shaping the on-platform user experience of video content on-platform, setting a new standard for video podcast discovery and engagement. We are home to the largest and most talked-about collection of audio and video podcasts across all subjects. From globally recognized names to the most authentic independents, this is where every voice matters. Apple Podcasts is available for free across a number of devices, from iPhone and Apple Watch to HomePod and CarPlay, for listeners in more than 170 countries and regions worldwide.
The Apple Podcasts Content Strategy & Programming team curates podcasts across the Apple Podcasts app to help listeners discover their next favorite show. We are looking for a passionate Content Strategy & Programming Manager for the service in the US to help drive this effort. Do you have a passion for introducing incredible audio and video shows to listeners? Then we want to hear from you! You will report to the Head of Content Strategy & Programming of Apple Podcasts.
Description
In this role, you will:
* Curate aspects of the audio and video podcast editorial experience into a compelling on-platform offering.
* Develop and execute editorial strategies specifically designed to maximize discovery and engagement for video podcasts on the platform.
* Establish and maintain internal editorial guidelines for video content, enabling the team to consistently identify high-quality, high-potential video shows based on performance data and editorial expertise.
* Build quantifiable programming campaigns to drive awareness and engagement.
* Work collaboratively to reflect topical cultural moments through relevant campaigns and weekly video episode curation.
* Manage and evaluate pitches from internal and external channels.
* Maintain the Apple tone of voice and branding across various promotions. Follow a style guide, and work with a variety of content management systems, designed to handle diverse media formats.
* Work with internal partners including Partnerships, Analytics, Marketing, Content Design, and Production, providing podcast strategy expertise.
* Fulfill our editorial mission to provide a great audio and video podcast experience for listeners every day.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field (communications, media, journalism, marketing, or equivalent). An MBA or equivalent with a media or marketing focus is valued but not required.
Experience establishing editorial guidelines or quality standards for video or multimedia content at scale.
Proficiency in Numbers for data analysis and Keynote for communicating insights and strategies to senior leaders.
Ability to reflect cultural moments and trending topics through timely, relevant editorial programming decisions.
Experience championing diverse voices and equitable representation in content programming decisions.
Extraordinary relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate across international teams and time zones.
Genuine passion for and understanding of the Apple brand, products, and commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.
Demonstrated ability to maintain editorial integrity and adapt quickly in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
Minimum Qualifications
3 or more years of experience in content curation and programming of diverse media, including podcasts and video, within the media or entertainment industries.
Experience programming or curating video podcast content across formats such as interview and chat shows, with knowledge of high-performing categories including comedy, sports, and entertainment.
Experience developing and executing editorial or programming strategies designed to drive content discovery and audience engagement.
Experience building quantifiable programming campaigns with measurable awareness and engagement outcomes.
Experience analyzing performance data and communicating insights and recommendations clearly to leadership.
Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously against tight and shifting deadlines.
Experience working cross-functionally with partners such as marketing, analytics, or production teams.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $124,000 and $234,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
