Job Description:

L3Harris, Technologies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Technical Writer (L4) for the new Ground Based Radar Digitation (GBRD) Contract located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to perform end-to-end Technical Order Life Cycle Development of the GBRD Contract TO Baseline creating several Space Force ground-based radar TOs.

Essential Functions:

  • Developing TOs in accordance with MIL-STDs, TO 00-5 series, and all other Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force, Space Force compliance directives
  • Performing technical writer role for all TO development activities
  • Providing support to TO Manager and lead technical writer in generating project milestone event meeting minutes in support of TO Guidance Conferences (TOGC) and In-Process Review (IPR) events
  • Experience mining technical data from engineering drawings and specifications (i.e., assembly drawings, interconnection diagrams, A-level specifications, test procedures, etc.) to develop TOs
  • Supporting site trips involving TO content development, conducting Contractor Certification, and providing support for Government Verifications
  • Collaborating with illustrators, TO QC, and engineering and logistics SMEs to accomplish required TO development objectives
  • Providing TO development status to lead technical writer and TO Manager for incremental reporting to Government customer
  • Capturing approved limited data rights content from Contractor Furnished Equipment Notices (CFENs) for Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) manuals
  • Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to show proof of citizenship
  • Currently possess, or are able to acquire, at a minimum, a SECRET security clearance
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the year in support of TO content development, certification, and verification site activities  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Computer proficiency with MS Office applications:  Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience with PTC Arbortext Editor - Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) tagging environment, RWS Contenta Explorer (content management system) - Document Management System (DMS), Extensible Markup Language (XML), and RWS XML Professional Publisher (XPP)
  • Experience with XML tagging environment and high-end document production software
  • Experience with FrameMaker and FrameMaker+SGML
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro PDF software
  • Ability to analyze technical data based on Source, Maintenance, and Recoverability (SMR) codes to adhere to organizational-level and depot-level maintenance requirements

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado state is $63,500-$117,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
