Responsibilities
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Manager, Editorial & Content Strategy is responsible for developing clear, engaging, and brand-right content that brings the Express brand to life across every customer touchpoint. This role partners closely with Creative, Brand Marketing, Merchandising, and channel teams to execute compelling storytelling across campaigns, ecommerce, email, social media, retail marketing, paid media, product storytelling, and other customer communications. The ideal candidate is a strong writer with excellent editorial judgment, an interest in menswear and retail marketing, and a passion for creating content that connects brand storytelling with customer needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Writing & Content Development
  • Write clear, engaging, brand-right copy across ecommerce, email, social media, paid media, retail marketing, product storytelling, campaign messaging, headlines, landing pages, and additional customer-facing communications.
  • Translate product strategies, seasonal campaigns, and marketing initiatives into compelling customer stories.
  • Adapt messaging appropriately for each platform while maintaining consistency in brand voice.
  • Support campaign concepting through headlines, messaging ideas, and creative collaboration.

Editorial Excellence
  • Ensure copy reflects established brand voice, editorial standards, grammar, tone, and messaging guidelines.
  • Proofread and edit content for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Research fashion, culture, competitive brands, and customer trends to strengthen storytelling.
  • Support development of seasonal messaging frameworks and editorial planning.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Creative, Merchandising, Brand Marketing, CRM, Social, Paid Media, and E-Commerce throughout content development.
  • Participate in creative reviews and incorporate feedback throughout the process.
  • Support special projects and additional content needs as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Creative Writing, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of copywriting and content experience.
  • Experience writing for fashion, retail, lifestyle, ecommerce, or consumer brands preferred.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating brand storytelling across multiple channels.
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills.

Actual compensation offered is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, work location, education, relevant skills and experience of the candidate.
