Savannah Logistics Group has an immediate need for a Yard Jockey Forklift Operator. Summary: This position is responsible for moving trailers to and from dock doors based on instructions from supervisors or the shipping office while following all regulatory and company safety standards, policies, and procedures.
Yard Jockey Forklift Operator Job Responsibilities:
  • Keep the yard organized and clean.
  • When loaded containers are pulled from the door it is the jockey driver's responsibility to close the doors on the container and put seals on them. If putting imports to the doors the jockey driver will have to cut the seals before backing the container to the bay.
  • Always ensure the cleanliness and adequate fueling of trailers.
  • Check/set trailer and yard temperature, add fuel if needed
  • Perform daily inspections on spotter truck and equipment
  • Report defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages to the vehicles and/or equipment
  • Maintain logs of trailer movements and fuel
  • Communicate with appropriate departments on daily movements of trailers
  • Jockey driver will check with the office several times a day to see what containers are needed to put in the bays to be loaded or unloaded

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Check trailer inventory and report any irregularities on log forms
  • Perform sanitation duties on trailers as assigned

Education and Experience:
  • Valid license
  • Minimum 2 years experience
