Job description

Job Objective:

Caliber Information Systems is a premier provider of trailing equipment inspection services to the transportation industry. We are looking for an effective Chassis & Container Inspector who possesses great attention to detail and an ability to work independently. The Intermodal and Chassis Inspector will inspect customer-owned chassis and container equipment, while maintaining the required quality and productivity levels.

Duties & Responsibilities:

ยท Must be able to obtain ERailSafe, TWIC, and ISN badge credentials

ยท IICL Chassis Inspector Certification is preferred

ยท The equipment must be maintained to AAR, IICL, FMCSA or other agreed upon industry standards.

ยท The inspector will help to ensure that only well maintained, properly repaired and safe equipment returns to the roadways.

ยท The inspector will be familiar with proper methods of repair, repair coding, and will utilize the required testing equipment to conduct proper pre- and post-repair inspections.

ยท The inspector will safely operate a fleet vehicle and abide by all rules and regulations of Caliber, our customers, and the states where we operate.

ยท Perform quality control inspections of chassis.

ยท Audit repair vendors at area rail depots and other locations for compliance and to ensure consistency and productivity.

ยท Using digital technology and a mobile handheld device to perform chassis inspections.

ยท Special Projects as assigned.

ยท Identify damage and defects that are entered into a mobile handheld device.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

ยท IICL Chassis Inspector Certification is preferred; if not certified, the candidate will be trained to pass the IICL Certification exam.

ยท Must be able to obtain ERailSafe, TWIC, and ISN badge credentials.

ยท Must have a valid driverโ€™s license, possess and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

ยท Must be able to pass a pre-employment 5-panel drug screen

ยท Willingness to submit to a national background check

ยท Must be able to perform โ€œwalk-aroundโ€ inspection of chassis, as well as using a crawler to check brakes and axles.

ยท Must be able to lift/roll heavy objects including truck tires.

ยท Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

ยท Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

ยท Excellent attention to detail.

ยท Must be able to multi-task and work independently as well as contribute to the overall success of the team.

ยท Comply with OSHA regulations and location safety policies and procedures.

ยท Active listening skills to understand both internal staff and external client concerns and needs.

ยท Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

ยท Commitment to embrace innovation, technology, and continued growth.

ยท Ability to analyze and solve complex problems.

ยท Knowledge of MS Office (Excel and Word)
