Job description

Work Schedule Comments: Monday – Friday, 8am to 6pm, Weekends as Needed


Position Overview: The Gate Inspector is responsible for inspecting the intermodal units arriving and departing the facility. This would include inspecting the unit numbers and each trailer and container for damage, as well as inputting the necessary paperwork as required by customers.

Important Job Functions:

  • Perform hands-on inspections on chassis and containers entering or leaving the yard while notating condition of units
  • Ensuring that all security seals are intact on all loaded units and empty units are indeed emptied
  • Clearly outlines and communicates all damage incurred on appropriate forms and/or computer systems with a direct supervisor
  • Maintains a quality environment where performance inspections are handled accurately, safely, and accident & injury-free. Inspectors are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as a safety vest and steel toe boots

Other Job Functions:

  • Assisting with Admin Work in the office when needed
  • Assisting with work on the yard as needed
  • All other duties as assigned when Gate is not busy
  • Required to operate a forklift on the facility stacking chassis
