What is consumer intelligence?

Consumer intelligence refers to the process of gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data about customers and their behaviors, preferences, and needs. It helps businesses make informed decisions by understanding what drives consumer choices and anticipating market trends. This intelligence is often derived from various sources, such as surveys, social media, purchase history, and customer feedback. By leveraging consumer intelligence, organizations can tailor their products, services, and marketing strategies to better meet the needs of their target audience.

How does a consumer intelligence professional typically collaborate with marketing and product teams?

Consumer Intelligence professionals play a vital role in bridging the gap between data insights and business strategy. They regularly work with marketing and product teams to share findings from consumer data, help identify market trends, and recommend actionable strategies for campaign optimization or product development. This collaboration often involves presenting reports, participating in strategy sessions, and providing ongoing feedback to ensure that consumer insights are effectively integrated into decision-making processes. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for success in this cross-functional environment.

Job description

About the Role

This is a high-ownership, hands-on Senior DevOps Engineer role at a fast-growing, AI-native consumer intelligence SaaS startup (11–50 employees) headquartered in New York City. The platform is trusted by enterprise-scale customers — including Fortune 500 retailers — for critical data and decision-making workflows.

You'll own the infrastructure end-to-end: architecting, building, and maintaining the cloud systems that keep the platform secure, scalable, and highly reliable. You'll work closely with backend and ML engineers, championing GitOps and infrastructure-as-code across the organization.

What You'll Do
  • Architect and build secure, scalable cloud infrastructure using IaC (Terraform / Terragrunt) on AWS

  • Design and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines; convert manual processes into automated, repeatable workflows

  • Own production reliability — set up observability stacks, define SLI/SLOs, and lead incident response

  • Implement and champion GitOps workflows for all infrastructure deployments

  • Build compliance-ready infrastructure (SOC 2, GDPR) with IAM best practices and secrets management

  • Optimize cloud costs while maintaining performance and reliability at scale

  • Create developer tooling and documentation that accelerates engineering workflows across the team

  • Mentor team members on DevOps best practices and help guide overall infrastructure strategy

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years owning infrastructure end-to-end in production environments (hands-on work within the last 2 years, not purely architectural)

  • Deep expertise with Kubernetes (EKS strongly preferred)

  • Proven experience building and managing AWS infrastructure for B2B SaaS products

  • Designed and maintained CI/CD pipelines in production

  • Broad DevOps scope: infrastructure, deployment, and monitoring — not just CI/CD

  • Experience at VC-backed startups or mid-sized technology companies

  • Currently resides in the greater NYC area

Nice to Have

  • Deep hands-on expertise with Terraform and Terragrunt

  • Familiarity with Python and/or Bash scripting

  • Background in AI/ML platform infrastructure or high-volume data pipeline environments

  • Experience at companies such as Meltwater, Qualtrics, Medallia, NielsenIQ, Kantar, Talkwalker, or similar enterprise SaaS / consumer intelligence firms

Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $160,000 – $200,000 USD annually, depending on experience

  • Equity participation at a well-funded, early-stage startup

  • Opportunity to be a foundational infrastructure hire with significant technical influence

Location

This is an on-site role based in New York City, NY. Candidates must currently reside in the greater NYC area.
